“We will never forget”
U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15) today issued the following statement commemorating the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks:
“This September 11 marks seven years since the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people on American soil. The growing distance of time does not dampen the grief and outrage we felt as a nation that day. We will never forget.
“On Thursday, flags fly at half-staff. Memorials will be held in Manhattan, the Pentagon and the fields of Central Pennsylvania, along with many communities around the nation. Along with Pearl Harbor Day, 9-11 is etched into our conscience. It may mean different things to different people. To me it stands as a reminder that the peace and security we enjoy in American cannot be taken for granted. These things are earned through the vigilance and hard work of those who defend America at home and abroad.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends and neighbors who lost loved ones that terrible day seven years ago. They are with American soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen, and counter-intelligence agents stationed around the world who protect us. And they are with our nation, that we remain stalwart in our defense against tyranny, radical extremism and oppression.”
