BALTIMORE (WJZ) –Ravens Defensive Tackle Haloti Ngata has been suspended for four games after he violated the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances.

“I made a mistake, and I own this. I took Adderall and take full responsibility for doing this. I am deeply sorry and broken up over this,” Ngata said. “I let down my family, my teammates, Ravens fans and myself. My hope is that the Ravens make the playoffs, and I believe they can do this. And, then I can come back and help us win.”

Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome said it was disappointing news for the Ravens.

“We are disappointed with Haloti, but no more than he is with himself,” Newsome said.

An NFL spokesman said the Ngata was suspended without pay for the team’s next four games and that his suspension will begin immediately.

He will be eligible to return to the Ravens’ active roster on Monday, Dec. 29 meaning he will be out for the rest of the Ravens regular season. He is however eligible to play in all playoff games.
