LLANO — Let’s face it, with all the activities and shopping going on, sometimes we feel a little more like the Grinch before he heard the songs of Whoville than the one who raced down the mountain with a heart that grew 10 times bigger that very day. So just how do we recapture that spirit of Christmas?

Well, a good start would include enjoying the annual Llano Lighted Christmas Parade on Dec. 6 on the Llano Courthouse Square.

The parade gets rolling just about dark, so you have time to find a spot along the square to spy Santa Claus.

Oh, did we forget to mention that among the floats and revelers, St. Nick himself is planning on making an appearance? Well, he is, thanks to a ride from the Llano Volunteer Fire Department.

Along with Santa, many local businesses, organizations and even families will be participating in the parade. But you don’t have to participate in it to have a good time, just show up with your family and friends and enjoy.

The night also features the Llano Woman’s Culture Club annual Holiday Home Tour.

For this event, several local homes are decorated with unique ideas and designs. The owners open their homes for this special event to help not only ring in the holiday season but even offer some decorating ideas for yourself. Next year you might be asked to show off your home during the tour.

Tickets for the tour may be purchased at the Llano Woman’s Culture Club on West Sandstone or the chamber office, 100 Train Station Drive in the Railyard Depot area. Call (325) 247-5354 for more information.

After the parade and tour, you can continue the Christmas cheer with a stroll through the Starry, Starry Nights display in Badu Park, located just north of the Llano River bridge.

And who knows, by the time the night is done, maybe the holiday stress will have faded so much you’ll feel like breaking out in song just like the Grinch did after he returned all the Whos’ presents.
