Delaware Valley College Granted University Status

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., (CBS) — In a little under half a year, Delaware Valley College will become a thing of the past.
That’s because the Doylestown institution founded by a Rabbi back in 1896 will be changing it’s name to Delaware Valley University.
KYW’s Dan Wing has more on what the change means for the school.
The first question that comes to mind is why?
“It allows us to expand our graduate programs. We currently have six masters and a doctoral degree,” says DelVal spokesperson Laurie Ward.
Ward says it will also help the school recruit international students, who tend to view a university as being more prestigious than a college. But Ward says DelVal won’t be expanding enrollment numbers.
“We’re still going to be student-focused, teacher and student relationship/mentorships are still going to be very important, our classes are still going to be small. None of that is changing,” says Ward.
Ward says DelVal will keep green and gold as the school’s colors, but will be unveiling a new logo at a Founder’s Day Ceremony on April 8th, when the change from college to University is made official.
