You don't want to see this guy tonight.
UPDATE, DEC. 5, 9:47 A.M.: The Orange County Sheriff's Department this morning announced DUI saturation patrols from 7 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday in the cities of Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel and Laguna Woods. The ops, which are also funded by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, put extra patrol deputies in areas known for DUI-related stops, crashes and fatalities.

Can someone explain why I equate Santa Ana DUI checkpoints with Up in Smoke scenes?
ORIGINAL POST, DEC. 5, 6:03 A.M.: The Santa Ana Police Department holds a DUI/drivers license from 9 tonight through 3 a.m. Saturday, and the location is ... the area of 2000 W. First St. So if you're picking up a sixer from that nearby Superior Grocers, don't starting drinking it UNTIL you get home.

All vehicles passing through the checkpoint will be checked "and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested," warns Santa Ana PD, which also invites members of the public to tip them off if they see a buzzed or blazing motorist.

Funding comes from a California Office of Traffic Safety grant, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"So if you're picking up a sixer from that nearby Superior Grocers, don't starting drinking it UNTIL you get home."

Bad grammar -- it should read, "...don't be starting drinking it UNTIL you get home."

Matt, you need to make fewer liquor runs to Superior Grocers. I only go there on Wednesday or Thursday for the bananas on sale.

I find it ironic that it is law that these checkpoints have to be announced in advance but in Santa Ana you have to find a spot in a very  tiny slice of the city's industrial area with a willing landlord to rent you a space t o open a dispensary.

@paullucas714

Yes, isn't that interesting? I would still like to know how many liquor licenses have been issued by the city of Santa Ana since they started their ridiculous war on the dispensaries.

@fishwithoutbicycle @paullucas714 I was being sarcastic in that it is simple to understand when you realize that the City Council (facsimile this to every city council in CA) is not fighting drugs, or drug manufacture or transport or distribution or addiction. Instead they are fighting the de-criminalization and normalization and legalization of cannabis and drugs in general.
