Oral cancer specialist and assistant professor of dentistry Yasmine Haddad looks anything but the serious-minded doc when she steps out on the social scene. Her vibe is total fashionista as was witnessed at the recent Women's Home benefit at the Kendra Scott boutique in Rice Village.

Her wardrobe choice for this night revealed a penchant for online shopping as her dress by BCBG MaxAzria is from Saks Fifth Avenue online and her Casadei pumps are from Neiman Marcus online. Her purse and accessories are finds from Poshak Fashion & Style boutique.

"I wanted to honor Kendra Scott for giving back a portion of the sales to the Women's Home," Yasmine emailed. "So I wore a necklace by Kendra Scott to this event and centered everything else around my necklace, I hope that I did OK."

We say she did very OK.

Typically,Yasmine Haddad doesn't dress in ethnic attire, but she stepped out in this embroidered blue silk tunic by Pakistani designer Deepak Perwani in support of the evening's Akshaya Patra benefit that raised funds for school programs in India.

"I fell in love with the blue tunic dress because of its amazing gold embroidery and unique color combination . . . Only a superior designer can mix these colors together in such harmony," she told CultureMap. For the bejeweled accessories, Yasmine visited Poshak Fashion & Style on Hillcroft where store owner Sameeera Faridi picked out appropriate headpiece, rings and bracelets. "It was an amazing, unique and super fun shopping experience."

For the record, Yasmine received her DDS from the University of Texas School of Dentistry, a Ph.D. in oral cancer from UT M.D. Anderson and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer biology at Baylor College of Medicine. She works as an assistant professor at the UT School of Dentistry.

CultureMap reader Tania Shaheen nominated Yasmine Haddad as StyleFIle pick of the week — and we agree that she's an excellent choice. "Although she is a full time breast cancer researcher at Baylor College of Medicine and a part time pediatric dentist, she still manages to look so glamorous and stylish in any social function she attends," Shaheen writes. "She has a passion for fashion as much as she has a passion for science and patient care. I believe that Yasmine Haddad is the ultimate example that beauty and brains can be easily combined."

For the Houston Baptist University 50th anniversary gala, Haddad chose a scalloped gown by Zuhair Murad that she purchased at Neiman Marcus Last Call. A Teri Jon bolero from Saks Fifth Avenue, Chanel earrings and Badgley Mischka clutch compete the chic ensemble. Haddad attended the gala with her son Matthew, an HBU sophomore with a 4.0 grade point average.
