Cleveland Cavaliers History

The Cleveland Cavaliers became of part of the NBA in 1970 as an expansion team. Over the years, the Cavs have had their highs and lows. Their highs included three Central Division Championships in 1976, 2009 and 2010. During these years, Cleveland Cavaliers tickets were highly sought after. The first division title was made with the help of Nate Thurmond. The coach, Bill Fitch, received the Coach of the Year Award that year. However, following that year, there were several years of hardships for the team. By the year 1986, the Cavs had players like Brad Daugherty, who was a five-time NBA All Star, Mark Price, Ron Harper and Larry Nance. With a coach named Lenny Wilkens, any Cleveland Cavaliers tickets purchased allowed you to witness 8 playoff seasons in 9 years. After that playoff streak came to an end, another period of lows for the Cavaliers fell upon the team. Excitement returned with the purchase of Cleveland Cavaliers tickets when the Cavs drafted a player named LeBron James. LeBron truly brought high-flying skills to the Cavaliers’ games. However, one thing Lebron never brought to Cleveland was an NBA championship. Although they made it to the NBA Finals in 2007, the exciting season ended in a thump when the Cavs were swept in the finals. The Cavs had another brief and futile play-off appearance the following year. So close but yet so far—- left the fans itching for a championship. However the big question was will Lebron even return to the team?

Quicken Loans Arena and the fans

Through the years the Cleveland Cavaliers tickets granted you access into the Cleveland Arena (1970-1974), Coliseum at Richfield (1974-1994) and currently the Quicken Loans Arena, which was formerly called Gund Arena (1994-present). Cleveland Cavaliers tickets are now allows you to see Moon-dog, their current team mascot. Moon-dog is infamous for his behind-the-back shot from half-court. This stunning shot awarded him a trip to the NBA All-Star game in 2004. The Cavs also have a second mascot, Sir CC. Sir CC is a Three Musketeer-like character. He made his debut in 2010. Sir CC and Moon-dog now team up and provide the game time entertainment for all Cleveland Cavaliers tickets holders. All hope for a championship run was lost when Lebron James announced he would be joining the Miami Heat team as opposed to staying with the Cavaliers. Needless to say, the fans were furious. The Cavs fans are true and value their Cleveland Cavaliers tickets. However, the quick departure of Lebron James has left a sour taste in their mouths. It is what it is, they say. They are now trudging forward with new coach, Byron Scott. Kyrie Irving, 2011, Rookie of the Year has also raised the hopes of the fans. They have great expectations that the Cleveland Cavaliers tickets value will rise again and the Cavs will return to be a playoff contention team. They hope that the rise will eventually culminate into a NBA finals championship. Hopefully Cleveland Cavaliers tickets will sour again. There is a lot of work to be done.

Cavaliers News

12-5-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers have been hanging out in the middle of the standings in the first five weeks of the 2014/2015 campaign as the team has posted just a 7-7 record to start the new season. The Cavaliers started this week by traveling back home to Cleveland to host their Eastern Conference foes in the Indiana Pacers. During the contest the Cavaliers came out of the gates with a hot hand in the first three quarters. The Cavs put some distance between them and the Pacers in the third quarter especially when the team scored 35 points and outscored Indiana by 13 to take a healthy 16 point lead into the fourth quarter. Kevin Love led all scorers in the contest with 28 points while Indiana’s offensive attack was led by 14 points from David West but it was not enough as the Pacers fell to the Cavs by the score of 109-97. The Cavs were back at it again on Tuesday as the team was back at home in Cleveland playing host to the Milwaukee Bucks. During the contest these two teams traded big quarters and offensive outbursts as it seemed for much of the game that the team with the ball in their hand last would win the matchup. The trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and LeBron James scored 28, 27 and 26 points respectively as the Cavaliers finished shooting 53% from the field in the contest. Milwaukee matched Cleveland’s big three with big nights from Jabari Parker and Brandon Knight but the Bucks finished with just 49% shooting from the field. Even with a hot hand shooting from the field the Bucks still fell to the suddenly hot Cavaliers by the score of 111-108. Cleveland finished their week off by traveling to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks in an Eastern Conference road contest. During the contest the Cavaliers had a plan to limit Carmelo Anthony’s damage to the team and Cleveland executed it perfectly holding the Knicks guard to just nine points on 4-19 shooting. Tim Hardaway Jr. attempted to pick up the scoring slack for New York along with Amar’e Stoudemire but the duo could not make up for cold nights shooting from Iman Shumpert and Jose Calderon. Cleveland let New York stick around for much of the contest despite holding down their top scorers down and may not have been able to hang on had it not been for 37 points from Kyrie Irving. Irving and LeBron James led the Cavaliers to a narrow 90-87 victory over the Knicks to extend their winning streak to three games. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 10-7. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team travels out on the road to take on the Toronto Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets before coming back home to host the Toronto Raptors. Cleveland will then finish their week off by traveling back out on the road to face off with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

11-28-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers had expectations as high as ever as the team welcomed back LeBron James and welcomed new faces in Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. The team sees the sky as the limit in the 2014/2015 season but has started the season with just a 5-5 record disappointing some. The Cavaliers started this week by traveling to Washington to take on the Washington Wizards in a road game. In the contest the Wizards were led by 28 points 6 rebounds and 7 assists from John Wall as the team as a whole shot 49% from the field in the game. Meanwhile Cleveland had a horrible night shooting as a team as evident by their 36% shooting percentage from the field and 22% percentage from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers leading scorer was both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving who each had 22 points but it was not enough as Cleveland fell to Washington by the score of 91-78. The Cavs were back at it the very next night looking for retribution back at home hosting the Toronto Raptors in Cleveland. In the contest LeBron James was held to just 15 points and 10 assists while Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving combined for 44 points on the night. The Raptors were too much to defend as a team on the night though as Louis Williams went off scoring 36 points in a 110-93 victory for Toronto. The deciding factor in the contest ending up being the free throw line as the Raptors knocked down 38 free throws to Cleveland’s 20 shots made from the charity stripe. Cleveland was still searching for their first victory of the week in their next contest when the Cavs traveled back home to host the Orlando Magic. LeBron James did his part in the contest as the Cavs forward led all scorers with 29 points while adding 11 assists in a 106-74 blowout for Cleveland. Orlando’s Victor Oladipo scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds but it was not enough in the loss for the Magic in Cleveland. The Cavaliers spent their final game of the week back at home in Cleveland playing host to the Washington Wizards. During the contest LeBron James led all scorers with 29 points and 11 assists while Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving combined for 24 points. Anderson Varejoa added 14 points while the Cavaliers went on to beat the Wizards by the score of 106-74. The Wizards offensive attack was led by 22 points from Victor Oladipo but it was not enough as the team shot just 36% from the field in the loss. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 7-7. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team heads back to Cleveland to host the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks before setting out on the road to take on the New York Knicks inside Madison Square Garden.

11-21-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers expectations heading into the 2014/2015 season were as high as ever as team welcomed back LeBron James and welcomes Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love to the squad. The team did not start the season the way they had hoped or planned as the team began the campaign with an even 3-3 record. The Cavaliers started this week by playing against Rajon Rondo and the Boston Celtics in a road game for Cleveland. In the game LeBron James absolutely went off offensively leading all scorers with 41 points while also dishing out seven assists in the contest. Kyrie Irving added 27 points in the contest as the Cavs as a team shot 51% from the field. Boston was led by seven different players in double digits as the team finished shooting 55% from the field. The difference in the game came on the free throw line as Cleveland knocked down 28-37 while Boston only made 19-23 attempts from the charity stripe. With the help of 26 fouls from the Celtics the Cavaliers went on to narrowly edge the Celtics by the score of 122-121. Cleveland was back at home the very next night as the Cavaliers hosted the Atlanta Hawks in Cleveland. The Cavaliers enjoyed an offensive explosion on the night while LeBron James scored 32 points and the team as a whole shot 54% from the field. Cleveland also shot 61% from beyond the arc as the Cavaliers knocked down 19 three point shots in the game. The Hawks shot just 14% from three point land as the team knocked down just 3-22 shot attempts from beyond the arc. The Cavaliers went on to easily beat the Hawks by the score of 127-94 in the contest. The Cavs hoped their hot hands carried over to their next contest when Cleveland went back home to host the Denver Nuggets. In the contest LeBron James added 22 points for the Cavs while three others scored 20 points including Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Meanwhile the Nuggets were led by 24 points from Ty Lawson in a complete team victory for Denver by the score of 106-97. In the Cavs final game of the week the team headed home to host the San Antonio Spurs in Cleveland. In the first half of the contest LeBron James was red hot from the field but the Cavaliers star went cold in the second half allowing the defending NBA champions back into the game. When it was all said and done Cleveland could not take advantage of a huge game by Anderson Varejo as the Spurs narrowly beat the Cavaliers by the score of 92-90. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 5-5. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team travels to Washington to play the Washington Wizards before heading back home to host the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards.

11-14-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers start to the 2014/2015 season did not go as planned in their reunion with LeBron James and for new faces Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. The Cavaliers started the season 1-3 after a tough week of basketball. The Cavaliers started this week by traveling to a fellow 1-3 team as Cleveland took on the Denver Nuggets on the road. LeBron James was typical LeBron James in this contest as King James scored 22 points leading all Cavaliers in scoring while dishing out 11 assists, which also led Cleveland, while pulling in 7 rebounds in the contest. Randy Foye led all scorers in the game for the Nuggets scoring 28 points but it was not enough as Denver fell to the Cavaliers by the score of 110-101. In the next Cavs game LeBron looked to turn the season around with another victory as the team traveled to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans. In the contest LeBron James and Kyrie Irving each scored 32 points while Kevin Love added 22 points as the Cavaliers went on to beat the Pelicans by the score of 118-111. In the contest James came up one assist shy of a triple-double as he scored 32 points, snagged 11 rebounds, and dished out 9 assists in the contest. The Pelicans were led by 32 points from Ryan Anderson and 27 points from Anthony Davis but it wasn’t enough to match Cleveland’s version of the Big Three. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 3-3. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team travels to Boston to play the Boston Celtics on the road before traveling back home to host the Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, and the San Antonio Spurs.

11-7-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers started their 2014/2015 season off last week by hosting and beating the New York Knicks in Cleveland to start the season with a 1-0 record. With the 2014/2015 season entering its first full week the Cavaliers traveled to Chicago to take on the Bulls on the road. In a game that the Bulls led late that ultimately went to overtime the Cavaliers led by 36 LeBron James points and 23 points by Kyrie Irving edged Chicago by the score of 114-108. Cleveland had three nights off before traveling to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers in a rusty game for the Cavaliers that was likely caused by the long layoff in between games. In the contest Portland’s defense held LeBron James to just 11 points in the contest and Kevin Love to just 22 points as only three members of Cleveland were able to score in double digits. Cleveland shot 37% from the field on the night including Kyrie Irving shooting just 3-17 from the field. Portland was led by Damon Lillard’s 27 points and Wesley Matthew’s 21 points as the Trail Blazers went on to win the game by the score of 101-82. To finish the week the Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Utah to take Jazz on the road. In the game Kyrie Irving led the Cavs with 34 points while LeBron James scored 31 points but it wasn’t enough as the Jazz went on to win the game by the score of 102-100. Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward scored 23 points each in the victory for the Jazz. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 1-3 on the season which is not the way LeBron James envisioned his return to Cleveland starting. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team travels to take on the Denver Nuggets on the road to start the week. Cleveland will finish their week up by hosting the New Orleans Pelicans at home in a short week for the Cavaliers.

10-31-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers tipped off the 2014-2015 season by facing off with the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden after an impressive 5-2 preseason record. The new look Cavaliers head into the 2014/2015 season with expectations at an all-time high with new additions and old faces in Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and LeBron James to name a few. Cleveland also signed forward Anderson Varejao to an extension before the season as the new look Cavs headed to New York to start their season against the Knicks. The new additions in Cleveland paid immediate dividends as Irving led the way for the Cavs with 22 points and 7 assists while Love led the way in rebounds with 14. LeBron James finished the loss with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in what was not his best work in a Cavaliers jersey. Get your Cavaliers tickets for next week as the team plays three road games against the Chicago Bulls, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Utah Jazz.

10-29-14: The rejuvenation of the Cavaliers roster has been the most talked about headline in the NBA and the hype has clearly translated into the secondary market. The season average for Cavaliers tickets is $381.73 on the, more than 462% higher than last season’s average of $67.86 at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs will play their most expensive home game Thursday night when they open their season against the New York Knicks. The average price for Cavs vs Knicks tickets is $642.63, which currently serves as the most expensive game in the NBA this season.

10-24-14: LeBron James is coming home to Cleveland and has brought some new additions along with him. Superstar Kevin Love, Mike Miller and Shaun Marion will also join The King as he heads home to the Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs have generated the highest season average on the secondary market this season after LeBron announced his return and currently own a $358.88 average over their 41 home games.

10-15-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers have played three of their seven scheduled preseason games so far, kicking off their preseason schedule on October 5 with an easy win over Tel Aviv followed by an 122-119 OT win over the Miami Heat and 106-100 win over Milwaukee in their last outing on Oct 14. Next on the Cleveland Cavaliers preseason schedule is a matchup with the Indiana Pacers at the Cintas Center tonight, with three remaining preseason games to be played against Dallas, Chicago, and Memphis before opening their regular season at home against the New York Knicks on Oct 30.

10-8-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers had an easy win over Tel Aviv to begin their preseason it what will be a very much anticipated upcoming season for the Cavaliers. Next up on the Cavaliers preseason schedule is a matchup with the Miami Heat on October 11, followed by game against the Milwaukee Bucks on October 14. Other matchups on the Cavs preseason schedule include games against the Pacers, Mavericks, Bulls, and finish the preseason against the Memphis Grizzlies on October 22. Cleveland had a very busy offseason acquiring the two of top 5 scorers in the league in Lebron James and Kevin Love.

9-22-14: Arguable no offseason has been greater than the one for the Cleveland Cavaliers. After winning the draft lottery for the second year in a row and drafting Andrew Wiggins, LeBron James decided to return home to the Cavs. Wiggins along with the number 1 pick in the 2013 draft Anthony Bennett were sent to the Minnesota Timberwolves for all-star Kevin Love. Along with Kyrie Irving who just came off of a strong FIBA World Cup performance is this the NBA’s new big three? They at least have the potential to all be starters for the all-star game in 2015.

8-13-14: The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to make run at an NBA title with a complete change to their roster acquiring free agent Lebron James as the King returns to Cleveland in hopes of bringing an NBA title to his home state. The Cavalier have also agreed in principle with the Minnesota Timberwolves to trade Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a first round draft pick to Minnesota for star player Kevin Love. Cleveland has also added veterans Mike Miller and James Jones, but it’s still to premature to crown the Cavaliers as the favorites to win it all.

8-11-14: In one move the Cleveland Cavaliers went from a bit of an afterthought to one of the favorites to win next season’s NBA championship. LeBron James, the league’s best player, revealed in a Sports Illustrated article that he would end his free agency by signing with the Cavs, the team that originally drafted him and the team he grew up watching in Akron, OH. The signing might be the biggest sports event to happen to the city of Cleveland in its history, and with the recent trade for NBA All-Star Kevin Love all but complete, the Cavaliers are the early championship favorite.

Cleveland Cavaliers 2014 Draft Overview

Round 1, Pick 1, Andrew Wiggins, SG/SF, Kansas
Round 2, Pick 33, Joe Harris, SG, Virginia

4-7-14: With a 2-1 week, the Cavaliers have now won five of their last six games, but it looks like they will not be able to sneak into the playoffs. However, Kyrie Irving, who was out since suffering a biceps injury on March 16, might give them a chance. He practiced on Tuesday and played the following night after missing eight games. In his return, Irving put up 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the blowout victory over the Magic in Orlando. Dion Waiters also helped Cleveland as he put up game-highs in points in each of the Cavaliers’ victories this past week.

4-1-14: The Cavaliers are hanging around as we approach the end of March. They won three of their four contests this past week, and most importantly, they went 3-0 against Eastern Conference opponents. After losing to the Houston Rockets on Saturday in Cleveland, the Cavaliers went to Madison Square Garden in hopes of ending their four-game losing streak. Jarrett Jack put up 31 points and a game-high 10 assists as the Cavaliers made a huge comeback to beat the New York Knicks, 106-100. Cleveland then beat the Toronto Raptors by two points on Tuesday and defeated the Detroit Pistons by one point on Wednesday.

3-24-14: As the projected Eastern Conference playoff teams continue to play well, the Cavaliers are looking less and less likely that they will make the postseason. They dropped three of their four contests this past week, and Kyrie Irving could be out for the rest of the season. On Friday, Spencer Hawes scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help the Cavaliers to a 103-94 victory over the Golden State Warriors. Unfortunately, Cleveland has struggled since then. On Sunday, Irving suffered a left biceps injury, and the Cavaliers lost by 22 points to the Los Angeles Clippers. Then, Cleveland dropped games to the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder.

3-17-14: The Cavaliers are fighting for their playoff lives as we get closer to the end of the season, but they unfortunately lost to two of the teams that are nearby in the standings. On Friday, Cleveland fell by nine points to the Charlotte Bobcats. Then on Saturday, Kyrie Irving put up game-highs in points and assists, but the Cavaliers lost to the New York Knicks by double digits. However, the night was not all bad. The organization retired Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ No. 11 at halftime that evening. Then, the Anthony Bennett-less Cavaliers got some rest before their three-game road trip. They started it off very well, as they beat the Phoenix Suns, 110-101.

3-10-14: Friday was a fantastic night for the Cavaliers. They hosted the Utah Jazz and put on a show. Kyrie Irving registered his first career triple-double as he put up 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in the Cavaliers’ 99-79 win. However, the success was short-lived. The Cavaliers brought their two-game winning streak into Memphis the following night and lost by 14 points. Then, on Tuesday, former Cavalier Danny Green scored 24 points to help the San Antonio Spurs beat Cleveland. Dion Waiters returned from a seven-game absence to score 24 points that night.

3-3-14: The Cavs will continue their popular bobblehead giveaways this season with a Kyrie Irving bobblehead night at Tuesday's game vs San Antonio. While the basketball allure of the late 00's battles between Duncan and LeBron may be gone, the Cavs counter with some of the cheapest tickets in the NBA. It'll currently cost you $11 for a ticket to the game and your bobblehead.

3-2-14: At the beginning of the season, the Cavaliers did not expect to have such a difficult schedule at this time of the year. However, the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards have become two of the Eastern Conference’s best teams with the exception of the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers. The Cavaliers kept it close in each of those three games, but they lost to the Raptors twice and to the Wizards once. However, Cleveland bounced back to stop a three-game losing streak with a double-digit win over the leading team in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Kyrie Irving led the way with 31 points as the Cavaliers snagged the important victory.

2-24-14: It was an eventful All-Star weekend for the Cavaliers, as they had participants on each night. Even though Dion Waiters was a part of the random draw during the Rising Stars Challenge draft, he was stellar in the exhibition contest. He scored a team-high 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting and dished off seven assists as well. After taking part in the 3-Point Shootout, Kyrie Irving stepped up his play for the All-Star game. He scored 31 points and dished off 14 assists en route to winning the MVP award. Although Waiters went down with a knee injury on Tuesday, the Cavaliers kept up the great week by pushing their winning streak to six games with wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic. Cleveland also acquired Spencer Hawes from the 76ers this past week.

2-18-14: It only took a firing of the team’s general manager to get the Cavaliers into gear. By winning each of their four games this past week, they now own their longest winning streak since 2010. Mike Brown’s squad outshot its opponent in all four of those victories to push the franchise’s record to 15-6 this season when having a better field-goal percentage. Although Luol Deng missed Friday’s game because he was under the weather, Kyrie Irving played through an illness of his own to put up 23 points and a game-high 12 assists in the two-point win at Washington. Although Deng only scored nine points in his return to the lineup on Sunday, Irving’s game-high 28 points led the Cavaliers over the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime. Then, Anthony Bennett’s career-highs in points and rebounds in addition to Deng’s game-high 22 points equaled a double-digit win against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. On the next night, Tristan Thompson’s game-high 25 points in Detroit got the Cavs another win.

2-10-14: Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, their losing streak continued this past week. They played three opponents from the Western Conference and lost each of the games by double digits. Cleveland’s three-game, five-day road trip did not go well at all. They lost those games by more than 20 points per contest. They finished the trip on Monday at Dallas and even had Anderson Varejao in the lineup after a three-game absence. However, with the 17-point loss to the Mavericks that evening, the Cavaliers dropped their 32nd game of the season, which meant that they had twice as many losses as victories in 2013-14. Then on Wednesday, the franchise’s week got even worse. Kyrie Irving was benched for the entire fourth quarter as the extremely depleted Lakers’ roster beat the Cavaliers, and consequently, they fired general manager Chris Grant.

2-4-14: Although the Cleveland basketball franchise is trying to make the playoffs, wins have been rare for the 2013-14 Cavaliers. They finished their five-game homestand with a 1-4 record and then began a difficult three-game road trip. Their only recent victory was at home against the league-worst Milwaukee Bucks. Kyrie Irving’s 10 points and game-high 10 assists led the way as the Cavaliers won by 15 points. Then, the team’s current losing streak began. After Cleveland fell to the Phoenix Suns, the news got even worse. Anderson Varejao was diagnosed with a knee contusion and missed the team’s next two games. Anthony Bennett scored a career-high 15 points on Tuesday, but the Cavaliers lost to the New Orleans Pelicans. Mike Brown then took his team to New York, and Cleveland lost by 31 points.

1-27-14: The Cavaliers continue to falter in their attempt to move into playoff position. Although they defeated the Nuggets in Denver on Friday to move to 10 games below .500, they then dropped home games to the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls. The Cavaliers’ comeback in their matinee game on Monday fell just short against the Mavericks, and they then lost in Luol Deng’s first career game against the Bulls. While the Cavaliers fell in their final two games of the week, Anderson Varejao is finally staying healthy as he continues to put up impressive numbers. He averaged 12 points and 16 rebounds in the three games this past week.

1-20-14: The Cavaliers sacrificed some of their future to try to make the playoffs this season, and thus far, they are on the outside looking in at the top eight in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland traded Andrew Bynum and three draft picks to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Luol Deng, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2013-14 season. Deng has scored double-digit points in each of his four games with the Cavaliers, and the team already has four wins in the month of January after having just five in all of December. In addition, it was great for Mike Brown to get revenge on the Los Angeles Lakers, as his squad won, 120-118, in his return to the Staples Center.

1-7-14: The Cavaliers’ frustrating season is going from bad to worse. The organization announced Andrew Bynum is indefinitely suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. Then, Cleveland lost to the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers to push the team’s losing streak to a season-long six games. In addition, Kyrie Irving now has a left knee contusion and will be out for at least a few more days. However, the Cavaliers oddly stopped their losing streak in the first game Irving missed this season. Anderson Varejao scored 18 points, which tied his season-high, and he grabbed a season-best 25 boards in Cleveland’s home win over the Magic.

12-30-13: Dion Waiters’ wrist tendinitis held him out of Friday’s contest against the Milwaukee Bucks, but Kyrie Irving stepped up with a game-high 39 points to get the Cavaliers their 10th win of the season. However, Waiters remained sidelined for the next two games, and Cleveland lost to both the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons. It marked the first time in 20 months that the Cavaliers dropped consecutive games by more than 15 points each. The Cavaliers fought hard on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks, but Irving’s 40 points and Waiters’ return were not enough for them to win. Jeff Teague’s buzzer-beater led to Cleveland’s first overtime loss in over a year.

12-22-13: With their 109-100 victory at Orlando on Friday, the Cavaliers won three consecutive games for the first time this season. In fact, the last time they had a longer winning streak was during the 2009-10 season. However, Cleveland’s schedule then took a turn for the worst. Kyrie Irving and his teammates had to face the Miami Heat on the second night of a back-to-back and then traveled home to take on the Portland Trail Blazers two days later. The Cavaliers dropped both games, but only lost by a combined 10 points. The team will have to keep fighting hard as Dion Waiters is dealing with wrist tendinitis.

12-13-13: After a rough start to the season, it has been going pretty well for the projected playoff basketball team in Cleveland. After defeating the Clippers and Knicks, the Cavaliers have won four of their last five games for the first time this season. Although their loss on Friday to the Hawks in Atlanta was by 19 points, the Cavaliers already have three wins in December after having only four in all of November. In addition, after Kyrie Irving was held scoreless in the Hawks game, he bounced back to score a combined 57 points in the last two games.

12-6-13: Although the Cavaliers lost their fifth game in a row on Friday at Boston, they bounced back with two important victories at home. Cleveland had yet another strong showing on the second night of a back-to-back, as they defeated the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. Then on Wednesday, the rested Cavaliers won by double digits to snap the Denver Nuggets’ seven-game winning streak. In addition, this is the first time this season that Cleveland has won two straight games. For a team that was reportedly shopping Dion Waiters a week ago, the Cavaliers might finally be settling into the 2013-14 season.

11-28-13: The disgruntled Cavalier locker room can’t seem to right the ship, as they have now lost four games in a row and seven of their last eight. Cleveland, now 4-11 on the season, is also facing issues with former number four pick Dion Waiters who is firmly on the proverbial trading block. Cleveland’s issues at the SF position have spurred rumors of Waiters going to Chicago for Luol Deng, New York for Iman Shumpert and to Philadelphia for Evan Turner.

11-22-13: After a players only meeting and a media-created “Where in the world is Dion Waiters” story, things aren’t quite going on the uptick that Cavs fans expected. Sitting at 4-8 on the season and losing four of their last five games, rumblings are already being created in Cleveland that a move needs to be made. Is Kyrie a leader? Is Bynum alive? Will Anthony Bennett ever make a shot? After Wednesday night’s loss to the Wizards, Mike Brown publicly called his team out saying that the only player that competed on the night was Matthew Dellavedova – an undrafted rookie, on a team filled with top lottery picks. Did we mention that Anthony Bennett is shooting 5-37 on the season? Yeah.

11-15-13: After a solid 3-2 start, the Cavs have dipped in their play in week three, dropping to just 3-6 with two straight losses leading into Friday night. After an intense win over the Philadelphia 76ers in a game that yielded 252 combined points, Cleveland got shut down on offense by the Bulls and simply couldn’t keep up with the Timberwolves. In addition, Cleveland endured a minor injury scare involving star point guard Kyrie Irving. Irving would end up being OK, however, and with center Andre Bynum slowly working his way into shape, the Cavs are looking ahead with optimism.

11-8-13: Despite getting almost nothing out of their two new prized bigs, free agent acquisition Andrew Bynum and #1 overall draft pick Anthony Bennett, the Cavs are still 2-3 and playing competitive basketball. With wins over the Nets and Timberwolves on their resume through their first five games, it looks like the Cavaliers have some real upside with star point guard Kyrie Irving leading the way. And if Bynum and Bennett ever feel like living up to the hype, the Cavs might even start thinking seriously about the playoffs.

11-1-13: After missing the playoffs each of the last three seasons, the Cavaliers have a new coach and new confidence. Mike Brown is ready to instill a winning attitude in Cleveland. Health will determine the Cavaliers’ chances, as they will be depending on Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, Anderson Varejao and Andrew Bynum. Near the end of the preseason, Cleveland also made some roster moves. They waived four players to trim the roster for the regular season. In addition, the Cavaliers are shaping their core of players after exercising the fourth-year contract options on Irving and Tristan Thompson as well as the third-year options on Waiters and Tyler Zeller.

10-18-13: Kyrie Irving is one of the up and coming players in the NBA and has a very bright future ahead of him as long as the injury bug doesn’t bite him. The Cavaliers have played very good basketball this preseason which has led them to a 3-1 record, in their last game Irving was able to score 12 of his 15 points in the third quarter before being pulled. The Cavs have four games remaining in the preseason:

  • October 19 vs Indiana
  • October 21 vs Philadelphia
  • October 23 vs Washington
  • October 24 @ Charlotte

8-23-13: While the pain of losing LeBron James may never subside, Cavs fans once again have a team to be proud of. With Kyrie Irving blossoming into a superstar and Dion Waiters, Tristan Thompson and first overall pick Anthony Bennett ready to support, Cleveland is likely bound for a return trip to the playoffs this year. The ultimate free agency steal was signing Andrew Bynum to two-year, $25M contract with just $6M guaranteed. If Bynum returns to the player he was last season, Cleveland could make a serious leap into contention in a suddenly top-heavy Eastern Conference.

LeBron and the Miami Heat will make their boo-filled return to Cleveland on Wednesday, November 27th and again on Tuesday, March 18th. Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls visit Cleveland on a Saturday night on November 30th before making their final trip into Cavs territory on Wednesday, January 22nd. Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets will show up ready to battle with Bynum on Saturday March 22nd.

Key Home Games:

  • October 30th – Brooklyn Nets
  • November 27th – Miami Heat
  • December 7th – L.A. Clippers
  • January 5th – Indiana Pacers
  • February 5th – L.A. Lakers

8-22-13: The Cavs have signed top draft pick Anthony Bennett to his guaranteed rookie deal. It's not known exactly what he'll make, but the deal can be worth up to $22.8 million over four seasons.

7-10-13: The Cavaliers and Andrew Bynum have agreed on a two-year deal. The deal includes $6 million of $12 million guaranteed in year one and a team option for the 2014-15 season for $12.5M.

7-1-13: In what was a huge surprise for the first overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft The Cleveland Cavaliers selected power forward Anthony Bennett From UNLV. Coming off recent shoulder surgery Many analysts were not sure How this would affect his draft status. Apparently the Cavs were not worried. Bennett is an explosive forward with a wingspan of 7-1. This is the second year in a row the Cleveland Cavaliers have selected the first overall pick in the NBA draft And according to their owner Dan Gilbert he hopes this is the last year they're in the lottery. Anthony Bennett should make a good pair with the backcourt of Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters. Last year the Cavaliers one only 24 Games. Tickets at Cavaliers games average $69 last year And with the rebuilding process continuing with the addition of Anthony Bennett It would be no surprises to see an increase in average ticket prices for Cavs home games.

6-28-13: Cavaliers 2013 Draft Summary

  • Round 1, Pick 1: PF Anthony Bennett, UNLV.
  • Round 1, Pick 19: SF Sergey Karasev, Russia.
  • Round 2, Pick 1: SG Allen Crabbe, Cal.
  • Round 2, Pick 3: SG Caririck Felix, Arizona State.

6-12-13: Kyrie Irving had a sensational year. Averaging over 22 points per game, the all-star point guard is rising toward the top of the league in terms of point guards. To put it simply, the man needs some help. Fortunately for Kyrie and co. help might just be on the way. The Cavs will select number one overall and again in the 19th slot. This year’s draft is not overly loaded with talent but with two picks within the top 20 they should find quality players ready to contribute. Already on the roster is shooting guard Dion Waiters, who if healthy, can be a consistent number two option for the Cavs offense.

2-27-13: Behind all-star guard Kyrie Irving the Cavs have had some signature wins despite a rough season in the last place. Although Cleveland has struggled since LeBron James left, the future is bright as long as they have Kyrie in it. At 20-38 the Cavs will next face the LA Clippers in Cleveland followed by the Knicks at home as well. Kyrie has averaged great numbers night in and night out, putting up over 23 points and 5 assists per game. Cleveland should be expected to continue to add talented youth to their roster using this year’s draft to help them. Headed for the lottery once again should enable them to get a high pick and flip it into a talented young player who can join their productive youth movement.

11-26-12: The cavs are yet another young team who will be missing their best player for a good amount of time. Kyrie Irving, the team’s all-star point guard is out with a broken finger. It would be safe to assume this team is headed toward the lottery once again as they continue to rebuild.
