The Northeast is one of the most populated areas of the country, and protecting the region's public health is one of our top priorities.

Located in New York, NY with an additional office in Philadelphia, PA, the Northeast regional office halts the discharge of toxic chemicals into drinking water, cleans up abandoned waste sites, and works to fix our nation's broken toxics regulatory system and to lift the secrecy around chemical safety. In addition, our focus on curbing the use of fossil fuels aims to move the Northeast towards a more sustainable energy future.

  • Defending Denton’s Fracking Ban

    The Denton Drilling Awareness Group and Earthworks has filed intervention papers in two lawsuits seeking to overturn the Denton, Texas ban on hydraulic fracturing (fracking).

  • Saving the Eastern Hellbender

    A coalition of New York scientists, citizens and environmental groups have filed a petition asking the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to award state endangered species protection to the eastern hellbender, a type of salamander that can grow up to 2 feet long.

  • BP Atlantis Gulf Oil Rig

    BP Atlantis, the world’s deepest semi-submersible oil and gas platform, represents a significant threat to the Gulf of Mexico and Gulf Coast communities because the platform lacks final, engineer-approved safety and operations documents.
