IMAGINE a festival that transforms and entertains; that unveils the next big idea; that challenges people to think about how Dallas can attract and keep its creative talent; that inspires its citizens to be a part of building the city of the future.
Welcome to FOR THE CITY: THE DALLAS FESTIVAL OF IDEAS, presented by the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture and The Dallas Morning News and produced in part by CrowdSource.
For two days in February 2015, the Dallas Festival of Ideas will bring together youth and experience, national figures and local leaders, entrepreneurs and poets, dancers and painters, food trucks and restaurants, cultural groups and change organizations to consider the future of life in Dallas. Questions will be asked, ideas will be shared, and answers will be discovered. What does the future look like for our city: The Physical City, The Cultural City, The Innovative City, The Political City, and The Educated City?
The goal is to ignite a passion for our city, to energize our citizens through an exchange of ideas, and to create the opportunity for change by shaping the future of Dallas from within.
It is a festival during which something will happen.
IMAGINE what that can be.
The Dallas Festival of Ideas is presented in part by

The Dallas Festival of Ideas will roll out across the Dallas Arts District, with talks and performances taking place at various locations. The festival’s check-in and information center will be located at the Dallas City Performance Hall, the hub of the festival. The Friday night signature event will also take place here along with the culminating session on the Saturday afternoon. An array of cultural groups and collaborating partners will set up booths in the lobby of the City Performance Hall to share information with those who want to get involved and take the next step in our conversation.
