12-5-14: The Dallas Mavericks have been one of the best teams in the Western Conference through the first five weeks of the season as the team has posted an 11-5 record. The Mavericks started this week by traveling to our northern neighbors to take on the Toronto Raptors in a road game for Dallas. During the contest the Toronto Raptors lost their best scoring threat in DeMar Derozan in the third quarter to a groin strain but the team did not lose their heart in the fourth quarter. The Raptors attempted a comeback in the final quarter going on a 13-2 run to cut the Mavericks lead to three with just 0:33 left in the contest. Dallas was fouled two separate times in the final 30 seconds of the game and knocked down all four of their free throw attempts to ice the Raptors and win the game by the score of 106-102. The next night the Mavericks were back out on the road in Philadelphia taking on the winless Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers still looking for their first win of the young NBA season played Dallas tough at home and were led by 21 points and 13 rebounds from KJ McDaniels. Dallas countered with 20 points and 13 rebounds from Tyson Chandler and 18 points from Monta Ellis as the Mavericks kept the 76ers winless on the season. Dallas went on to beat Philadelphia by the final score of 110-103. The Mavericks looked to keep their winning ways going in their next contest when the team flew to Chicago to take on the Chicago Bulls in a road showdown. During the contest Pau Gasol scored a season high 29 points for the Bulls while Derrick Rose added 18 points and 10 assists in what turned out to be a thriller in Chicago. The Bulls had to stage an epic come from behind attack clearing a 12 point second half deficit to force overtime. It looked like Chicago was headed for a loss before Rose knocked down a buzzer beating shot to force a second overtime period. In the second overtime period the Mavericks, led by 38 points from Monta Ellis, took over and eventually beat the Bulls by the final score of 132-129. The Mavericks finished their week off on the road when the team traveled to Milwaukee to take on the Milwaukee Bucks. During the contest Milwaukee jumped out all over Dallas early in the contest as the Bucks took a seven point lead at halftime before the Mavericks staged a comeback. Dallas held Milwaukee to just 14 points in the third quarter after surrendering a pair of 30 plus point quarters in the first half as the Mavericks took a two point lead late. Dallas, behind the scoring attack of Monta Ellis, went on to hold off the Bucks in the fourth quarter en route to a 107-105 victory over Milwaukee. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 15-5. 11-28-14: The Dallas Mavericks have posted the one of the best records in all the NBA this season as the team has started the 2014/2015 campaign by posting an impressive 9-3 record. The Mavericks started this week by hosting a struggling Los Angeles Lakers team at home while attempting to stop a two game winning streak for the Lakers. In the game the Lakers were led by 18 points from Jeremy Lin and a double-double from Jordan Hill but the team could not overcome a cold night from Kobe Bryant. Bryant finished with just 17 points on 6-22 shooting as the Mavericks made quick work of the Lakers 140-106. In the contest the Mavericks were led by 23 points from Dirk Nowitzki as the team shot a staggering 62% from the field in the victory for Dallas. The very next night the Mavericks were at it again as the team traveled to Houston to take on the Houston Rockets in a Western Conference road contest. In the contest the red hot Dallas Mavericks were led by 17 points from Monta Ellis as Dirk Nowitzki was held to just 11 points on 4-18 shooting on the night. Houston on the other hand enjoyed a 32 point performance from James Harden and a 20 point outburst from Patrick Beverley in a 95-92 victory for the Rockets. Houston held on to win after shooting just 37% from the field by making up ground on the scoreboard knocking down 15 three pointers in the contest. Dallas shot 40% from the field but managed just 6 three point shots to go down in the loss to the Rockets. The Mavericks looked to turn things around in their next contest as the team traveled back to Dallas to host the Indiana Pacers in a home game. In the contest Monta Ellis scored 24 points while Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks while the team shot 50% from the field. The Pacers were that much better though shooting 50% from the three point line and knocking down five more three pointers in a 111-100 victory for Indiana. The Pacers leading scorer was Donald Sloan who scored 29 points while six other players for Indiana scored in double figures in the victory. The Mavericks were back at home looking to finish their week off with a victory while the team played host to the New York Knicks in Dallas. During the contest the Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony but still played Dallas tough forcing the game into overtime. The Knicks offensive attack was led by 21 points and 10 rebounds from Jose Calderon in the contest but New York didn’t have an answer on the night for Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki scored 30 points to lead all scorers in the contest while Tyson Chandler pulled down a staggering 25 rebounds as the Mavericks went on to edge the Knicks by the score of 109-102. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 11-5. 11-21-14: The Dallas Mavericks had a strong start to their 2014/2015 campaign as the team started out the season
with an impressive 6-3 record in the first two weeks. The Mavericks started their week off by heading
back home for their fourth consecutive game in Dallas to host the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the
contest Kevin Martin scored 34 points for Minnesota while the Wolves shot 50% from the field in the
game. Minnesota had no answer for the Dallas offensive explosion as Dallas shot 55.3% from the field
while being led by 30 points from Monta Ellis as eight members of the Mavericks scored in double digits.
The Mavericks went on to beat the Wolves by the score of 131-117 in the contest. Dallas packed up
after the victory and traveled out on the road to take on the Charlotte Hornets in Charlotte in their first
road game in over a week. In the contest the Hornets were led by 18 points from Gerald Henderson but
only two others scored in double figures in what turned out to be a rough night shooting for Charlotte.
Meanwhile Dallas was led by 18 points from Monta Ellis as the team shot a combined 51% from the field
in a 107-80 victory for the Mavericks. Dallas finished their schedule this week by traveling to Washington
to take on the Washington Wizards in a road game for the Mavericks. In the contest the Wizards had
four players that scored in double figured on the night including John Wall’s 11 point and 11 rebound
double-double but it was not enough to stop the Mavericks on this night. Dallas was led by 34 points
from Monta Ellis in the contest while the Mavericks went on to narrowly beat the Wizards by the score
of 105-102. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 9-3. Get

11-14-14: The Dallas Mavericks had a tough start to their 2014/2015 campaign as the team started the season with a road loss to the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks rebounded to post an overall record of 3-2 in the first week of the season after the opening loss to the NBA champs. The Mavericks started this week by hosting the Utah Jazz at home in Dallas in a Western Conference matchup. Utah had no answer for the Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki who scored 27 points and Tyson Chandler who scored 15 points in an easy victory for Dallas. The Mavericks would win the game by the score of 105-82 behind the offensive explosion from Nowitzki. In the contest the Jazz were led by Alec Burks 14 points in the loss for Utah. Two nights later the Mavericks were back at home hosting the defending Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat. In the contest Luol Deng led all scorers with 30 points for the Heat while Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade each had 20 points as the Heat went on to win their second straight game by the score of 105-96. In the contest Monta Ellis scored 23 points for the Mavericks but it was not enough in the loss for Dallas. The Mavericks looked to bounce back in their next contest as the team traveled back home to take on the Sacramento Kings in their next game. In the showdown the Kings were led by 26 points from Rudy Gay but the team had no answer for Chandler Parsons and Dirk Nowitzki in this contest. Dirk scored 23 to lead the Mavericks in scoring while Parsons added 19 points in a 106-98 victory for the Mavericks. The Mavericks finished their week by hosting the winless Philadelphia 76ers at home with hopes of keeping the team winless on the season. With the Sixers looking for their first victory of the season the scoring attack of Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten combined for 30 points but no other Philadelphia player scored in double digits in the contest. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points in the game while Monta Ellis added 17 in an easy victory for the Mavericks by the score of 123-70. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 6-3. 11-7-14: The Dallas Mavericks started their 2014/2015 season off last week by narrowly losing to the NBA
champion San Antonio Spurs on the road before beating the Utah Jazz in the Mavericks home opener to
start the year 1-1. With the 2014/2015 season entering its first full week the Mavericks traveled to New
Orleans to take on the Pelicans on the road where the Mavericks had won seven straight head to head
matchups. In the matchup the Pelicans Anthony Davis led all scorers with 31 points while Jrue Holiday
contributed with 24 points and Tyreke Evans added 22 points for New Orleans. The Mavericks forward
Chandler Parsons led all Dallas scorers with 20 points along with five other Mavericks to score in double
figures. The Mavericks defense was on full display in the fourth quarter as Dallas went on to beat the
Pelicans by the score of 109-104. Two nights later the Mavericks were back home hosting the Boston
Celtics. In the contest Jeff Green led all scorers with 35 points while Avery Bradley added 32 points for
the Celtics while Chandler Parsons scored 29 points as five Mavericks scored in double figures in this
contest. The Mavericks went on to win the game by the score of 118-113 in a contest that was decided
on the free throw line. Dallas made four more free throws on the day and shot 80% from the charity
stripe which contributed to the victory for the Mavericks. Dallas finished their week by traveling to
Portland to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on the road. In the game Portland was led by 20 points
from LaMarcus Aldridge and 18 points from Damian Lillard in a 108-87 victory for the Trail Blazers.
Portland held Dirk Nowitzki to just 17 points and the rest of the Mavericks to just 37% shooting in the
victory. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 3-2. Get your

10-31-14: The Dallas Mavericks tipped off the 2014-2015 season by facing off with the defending champion San Antonio Spurs at home. The Mavericks were one of the more active teams before the roster deadline as the team waived point guard Gal Mekel in order to accommodate a J.J. Barea reunion for the Mavericks. Barrea will join guards Jameer Nelson, Devin Harris, and Reymond Felton after the Minnesota Timberwolves bought out his contract. The Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has left open the option of adding a veteran piece such as Rashard Lewis or Ray Allen later in the season much like he has added Peja Stojakovic late in the season in recent memory. The Mavericks started their season off by hosting the San Antonio Spurs and in the contest Tony Parker once again led the Spurs offensive attack with 23 points while Tim Duncan dominated the boards with 13 rebounds as the Spurs edged the Mavericks by the score of 101-100. The Spurs defense held the Mavs star player Dirk Nowitzki to just 18 points on 7-11 shooting in the loss while holding Monta Ellis to just 26 points on 21 shots. The Mavericks had another shot this week at their first victory of the season when they hosted the Utah Jazz and Chandler Parsons and Dirk Nowitzki were up to the task. Both Nowitzki and Parsons had 21 points each as the Mavericks went on to beat the Jazz handedly in their home opener by the score of 120-102. 10-29-14: Despite a slight drop in season average, the Mavericks will still have impressive numbers on the secondary ticket market this season. The average price for Mavericks tickets is $121.63 on the secondary market, dropping just 4.7% from last season’s average of $127.68. The team made a pair of big moves during the offseason, parting ways with long-term vet Vince Carter and picking up Chandler Parsons from the Rockets. They won 49 games last season but ultimately succumbed to the Spurs in the First Round of the Western Conference Finals in seven games.
10-24-14: The Dallas Mavericks have gone just 3-4 in the preseason, but their push into the playoffs last season has kept optimism high. The team will be without mainstay Vince Carter after leaving for Memphis but they’ve added center Tyson Chandler in the offseason, who was a vital part of the Mavericks’ 2011 Championship team.
10-15-14: The Dallas Mavericks started their preseason schedule with back to back losses to the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder, but have rebounded with a 106-98 win over the Indian Pacers. Dallas will now get ready to travel to the Quicken Loans Arena to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers this Friday, followed by four more remaining preseason games with Indiana, Memphis, New Orleans, and Orlando before the Mavericks kick off their regular season on Oct 28 on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.
10-8-14: The Dallas Mavericks kicked off their preseason last night with a tight win over the Houston Rockets, as Dallas prepares to host the OKC Thunder at the American Airlines Arena this Friday. The Mavericks will then host the Indiana Pacers on October 12, and then travel to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 17, followed by remaining preseason games with the Pacers, Grizzlies, Pelicans, and Magic to finish out their preseason schedule. The Mavericks will look to capitalize on a strong offseason but it will be tough considering how deep the Western Conference is this year that seems to be getting better with each passing day.
9-22-14: Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks made a lot of offseason moves this summer. What remains to be seen is if their bench depth remains. The Mavs lost veterans Sam Dalembert, Jose Calderon, Vince Carter, and Shawn Marion. They have since signed Jameer Nelson, Richard Jefferson, and Al-Farouq Aminu to replace the bench production from last year. Last year’s squad as an 8th seed took the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs to 7 games in the first round in the playoffs last season. The question remains in a deep western conference if they can improve and make a deep run.
8-13-14: The Dallas Mavericks had a strong offseason adding Tyson Chandler, Chandler Parsons, Jameer Nelson, and Raymond Felton among others. Dallas owner Mark Cuban is pumped with his new roster believing not only has a good team but a very smart team as well. The Mavericks took the Spurs to seven games and they have surrounded their best player Dirk Nowitzki with quality ones that was the recipe for success in their 2011 championship season. However, they are in the very brutal Western Conference which is improving every year.
5-12-14: Rick Carlisle coached this 2013-14 Mavericks team to further lengths than anyone expected. Behind Monta Ellis’ game-high 29 points and DeJuan Blair’s game-high 14 rebounds, Dallas defeated the visiting San Antonio Spurs by two points in Game 6. The Mavericks had a strong start to Game 6 and shot very well in the fourth quarter. However, the Mavericks could not sustain the momentum for Game 7. The Spurs came out to a fast start, and Dallas could not catch up. Tony Parker was too much for the Mavericks to handle, and he led San Antonio to the 119-96 victory to knock Dallas out of the playoffs.
5-5-14: The Mavericks had a fantastic Game 3 in front of their home crowd. Monta Ellis scored a postseason career-high 29 points, but he was not the hero of this contest. Vince Carter made the first buzzer-beating game-winner of the 2014 playoffs. He made a 3-pointer to lift the Mavs past the San Antonio Spurs, 109-108, to take a 2-1 series lead. However, the Mavericks could not get either of the next two games. The Spurs defeated Dallas by four points in Game 4. Carter scored a game-high 28 points in Game 5, but it was not enough as the Mavs lost by six points.
4-28-14: The Mavericks played very well in San Antonio in the first two games of the series. Dallas’ postseason history with San Antonio is relatively good, especially compared to the Mavericks’ struggles in the regular season against the Spurs. Heading into the series, the Spurs had defeated the Mavericks in each of their last nine meetings. A late rally in Game 1 allowed San Antonio to extend the streak to 10 games, but Monta Ellis, Shawn Marion and Devin Harris led the charge in Game 2 as the Mavericks won, 113-92. Now, Dirk Nowitzki needs to step up if Dallas wants to win this series.
4-21-14: The Mavericks have had a lot of trouble with the San Antonio Spurs recently, so it was unfortunate when Dallas could not pull out the victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on the final night of the season. Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 30 points, but his team lost in overtime, 106-105. The Mavericks have not beaten the Spurs since March 2012. If Dallas had beaten the Grizzlies, the team would be taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round. During the 2013-14 regular season, the Mavericks won two of their three meetings with the Thunder. Now, Nowitzki and Monta Ellis have to lead their team into San Antonio and hope to get at least one win there.
4-16-14: Dallas Mavericks playoff tickets average $202 on the secondary market, which is 4th in the western conference and 8th overall. The regular season average was $80, meaning there is a 150% premium for the playoffs. The Mavs are currently the 7th seed in the West and set to face the Thunder in the Opening Round.
4-7-14: The Mavericks had a strong week against the Western Conference. They beat the Sacramento Kings by three points on Saturday behind Dirk Nowitzki’s 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Then, he stepped up his scoring against the playoff teams. Nowitzki put up game-highs in points and rebounds, but the Mavs lost to the Golden State Warriors in overtime. Dallas bounced back with Nowitzki’s third double-double in his last five games. He scored a game-high 26 points as the Mavs beat the Los Angeles Clippers, 113-107. Nowitzki will have to continue his strong stretch for the Mavs to make the playoffs.
4-1-14: The Mavericks continued their lengthy homestand this past week, but only won two of their four contests as the team continued to alternate wins and losses. On Friday, Monta Ellis’s 26 points were a game-high as he led Dallas to the 122-106 victory over the Denver Nuggets. However, Ellis’ 32 points were not enough on Sunday. The Mavs and Brooklyn Nets went to overtime that night, but Dallas lost, 107-104. Then on Tuesday, Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavs to the victory. His 32 points and 10 rebounds helped Dallas get the nine-point win in overtime. Unfortunately, Thursday did not go as well as the Mavs lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by six points.
3-24-14: The Mavericks had a successful 2-1 week this past week and now have as many wins this season than they did all of last season. On Sunday, Dallas destroyed the Russell Westbrook-less Oklahoma City Thunder, 109-86. Then, the Mavericks swept the back-to-back set as they beat the visiting Boston Celtics on Monday. In that contest, Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 19 points. Dallas was unable to make it four consecutive wins when hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. The Mavericks and Wolves went to overtime, but Dallas fell, 123-122. Shawn Marion registered a double-double as he filled the stat sheet that evening.
3-17-14: The Mavericks put up a 3-1 record as they continue to hold onto a playoff spot. On Friday, Jose Calderon came out to a fast start as Dallas dominated the Portland Trail Blazers early on in the contest. The Mavericks held on for the 103-98 win. Then on Sunday, the Mavericks beat the Indiana Pacers, 105-94, and Monta Ellis contributed 20 points and eight rebounds. After a blowout loss in Golden State on Wednesday, Dirk Nowitzki scored 31 points in the Mavericks’ 108-101 victory over the Utah Jazz. On that night, Nowitzki passed John Havlicek for 12th place on the NBA scoring list.
3-10-14: The Mavericks had a frustrating week, as their playoff position is now looking uncertain. They encountered their first three-game losing streak in more than a year. On Friday, Monta Ellis scored a game-high 20 points, but Dallas fell to the Chicago Bulls, 100-91. Then, on Sunday, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki has now lost seven straight head-to-head meetings with Tim Duncan. Even after two days of rest, the Mavericks could not win in Denver. Nowitzki put up a game-high 27 points along with seven rebounds, but the Mavericks lost, 115-110, on Wednesday.
3-3-14: Now, that was one successful week for the Mavericks. They played a road-heavy schedule and did not lose. First, Rick Carlisle’s squad went to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers. The Mavericks scored 41 points in the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way to the 124-112 victory. Then on the following night, the Mavericks traveled to Detroit and beat the Pistons, 113-102. Dallas got one day off before facing the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 44 points, but was unable to stop Dirk Nowitzki’s buzzer-beater. The Mavericks won, 110-108, to move their winning streak to three games. Then on Wednesday, they made it four in a row with a blowout of the New Orleans Pelicans.
2-24-14: Dirk Nowitzki was Dallas’ lone participant in All-Star weekend. Unfortunately, he was the only player in the All-Star game to play and not score. The bad news continued for the Mavericks this past week. They hosted the Miami Heat on Tuesday, and LeBron James dominated the game en route to the 117-106 Heat victory. On the bright side, Nowitzki almost registered a triple-double with 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. In addition, Vince Carter matched his season-high by attempting 11 free throws in the contest. With an upcoming stretch against some Eastern Conference opponents, the Mavericks will try to get back to their winning ways.
2-18-14: The Mavericks are playing very well, as they finished with a 3-1 record in a road-heavy week. On Friday, they destroyed the Utah Jazz before going on the road for a three-game trip. On Sunday, Monta Ellis was a game-time decision, but he played 28 minutes and helped the Mavericks to a 102-91 victory over the Boston Celtics. With 20 points in that game, Dirk Nowitzki had his longest 20-point streak since 2011. Although Dallas fell by 25 points in Charlotte on Tuesday, the Mavericks bounced back to beat the Indiana Pacers the following night. Ellis put up a game-high 23 points in that victory.
2-10-14: This past week was a big one for the Mavericks. They beat each of their three opponents and moved to a 29-21 record. On Friday, even without Shawn Marion available, they continued their home dominance over the Sacramento Kings. Dirk Nowitzki scored a team-high 34 points and the Mavericks had a season-low four turnovers in their four-point victory. Although Marion remained out on Monday, Jose Calderon posted double-digit assists for just the second time this season en route to the Mavericks’ 17-point win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then on Wednesday, Marion returned and the winning streak continued with an important 110-96 win at Memphis.
2-4-14: The Mavericks are going to have to put up a real fight in order to make it to the 2014 playoffs. After going 8-5 in December, they have eight losses in January. Although Dirk Nowitzki returned from a one-game absence on Friday at Brooklyn, his 18 points were not enough to beat the Nets. Then, Nowitzki stepped it up in the next two games. He scored 28 points on Sunday to help the Mavericks get past the Detroit Pistons, 116-106. The Mavericks got two days of rest before hosting the Rockets on Wednesday, but Nowitzki’s 38 points and season-high 17 rebounds could not beat Houston.
1-27-14: The Mavericks had another four-game week, but they had three road contests this time around. After Jose Calderon suffers a knee contusion on Friday at Phoenix, Shane Larkin filled in admirably as he scored a career-high 18 points in Dallas’ win over the Suns. Calderon stayed in the starting lineup the following night as the Mavericks hosted the Portland Trail Blazers, but the point guard struggled. Although five of his teammates scored more than 10 points that evening, Dallas fell by 16 points. On Monday, the Mavericks defeated the Cavaliers by five points in Cleveland. However, Dallas decided to rest Dirk Nowitzki on Wednesday, and the team lost in Toronto.
1-20-14: The Mavericks had a balanced schedule over the last couple of weeks, but they did not beat a team above .500 in that span. Dallas had a difficult start to 2014 – although the Mavericks beat the Los Angeles Lakers by 13 points, they dropped games to the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Dallas then bounced back to win three consecutive games, including a home-and-home set against the New Orleans Pelicans. Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring in each of those games, including a season-high 40 points in the second contest. After blowing out the Orlando Magic, they traveled to the Staples Center and lost a large lead to the Clippers in Shawn Marion’s return to the court after missing four games.
1-7-14: The Mavericks had a terrific week, as they won all three games on their road swing. They first traveled to Chicago and blew out the Bulls. Monta Ellis scored a game-high 22 points, and Shawn Marion led all players in that contest with 13 rebounds. Then on Monday, Marion put up 32 points, his highest-scoring game since 2009. Dallas dominated the first half that night in Minnesota and was able to withstand the Timberwolves’ comeback attempt to get the victory. On Wednesday, there was another strong performance by Ellis, as he scored 23 points. With their record now at 19-13, this has been a great season for the Mavericks thus far.
12-30-13: The Mavericks were bound to have a difficult week after starting the season 15-10. They dropped three of their four contests this past week. It unfortunately started with an overtime loss at home to the Toronto Raptors. Then, the Mavericks had to travel to Phoenix to take on the surging Suns the next night. Dallas ended up falling by 15 points in that game. However, Monday was a great night for Mavericks fans. They watched as their team went into Houston and defeated the Rockets, 111-104. In addition, Dirk Nowitzki passed Alex English for 13th place on the all-time scoring list. The week did not end so well though as the Mavericks lost to the San Antonio Spurs by nine at home on Thursday.
12-22-13: The Mavericks only played two games in the last week, but they won them by a combined 27 points. On Saturday, they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks without Dirk Nowitzki, who was sick that night. Brandan Wright made the most out of his season debut as he scored a game-high 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting in 19 minutes off the bench. Nowitzki then returned to the lineup on Wednesday to lead all scorers with 20 points to go along with six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Now standing at 15-10, the Mavericks are ready to fight for a high playoff spot in the Western Conference.
12-13-13: Monta Ellis has had a fantastic season in Dallas after falling out of favor with the Milwaukee Bucks organization last season. However, on Saturday, he faces his former team for the second time this season. Coming into that contest, he has scored double-digit points in 22 of the team’s 23 games this season. He has been a great addition to a Mavericks roster for 2013-14. Although Dallas dropped two of its three games this week, Ellis has scored at least 21 points in each of those three contests. The lone victory was a big one in which Ellis hit the buzzer-beater at Portland to give the Mavericks their 13th win of the season.
12-7-13: At the beginning of the season, it was tough to project how well Monta Ellis would play for the Mavericks, but he has been fantastic thus far. Both he and Dirk Nowitzki are averaging more than 20 points per game to put this Dallas team in the thick of things in the Western Conference. The Mavericks had two close losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves, but then beat both the Charlotte Bobcats and New Orleans Pelicans. It is important for the Mavericks, a team that has struggled away from home this season, to keep up their strong play because they have to go on the road a lot during the rest of December.
11-28-13: After running off four straight wins last week, the Dallas Mavericks won just one of three this week – including two losses to the Denver Nuggets. At 10-6 on the year, Dallas continues to play well and won their last contest over the very good Golden State Warriors. The Mavs got 22 points from Dirk Nowitzki and had six players score in double figures to lead them to the win. With Wayne Ellington and rookie Shane Larkin both healthy and back in the lineup, Dallas has strong depth in the backcourt. It was also announced that Devin Harris will likely return within the next month to add even more depth (or a logjam).
11-22-13: Monta-ball is working! With Monta Ellis and Dirk playing brilliants off of each other, the Dallas Mavericks have won three straight games and five of their last six. Dallas won a big game on Wednesday night over their in-state foes, the Houston Rockets thanks to 37 points from Monta and 35 from Dirk. At 8-4 on the season and 2nd place in the Southwest Division, the Mavericks look like they might be able to stick around for another playoff appearance. Does Dirk have one final big playoff run left in him?
11-15-13: Dirk Nowitzki is no longer the main scorer in Dallas. That’s Monta Ellis’ job now. Regardless, it hasn’t negatively impacted the Mavs as a team, as they sit with a solid 5-3 record in week three after earning wins over the Bucks and Wizards heading into Friday’s NBA action. Through three weeks Dallas has clearly shown they can put points in the scoreboard and handle lesser opponents. The real test will be if they can raise their level of play on the defensive end going forward.
11-8-13: The Dallas Mavericks look like what owner Mark Cuban intended them to look like through five games: a new team. Dirk Nowitzki has looked as healthy as ever, opening the season with three straight 20+ point outings, while his supporting cast has shown enough early in a solid 3-2 start that has the Mavs thinking about a strong playoff run again. With their only losses to the talented Rockets and Thunder, there is reason to believe in an underrated roster in Dallas going forward.
11-1-13: Just before the regular season began, Mavericks general manager Gersson Rosas announced his resignation from that position. It has been a frustrating last few months for the Dallas basketball franchise. After Mark Cuban missed on Dwight Howard, he settled for a different type of roster for this season. Rick Carlisle, Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter and Shawn Marion remain the constants, but DeJuan Blair, Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington and Monta Ellis make up a group of new players that are being incorporated into the Mavericks system. However, Nowitzki looked ready during the preseason, so this could be a very good year for him and the team.
10-18-13: The Dallas Mavericks are 2-2 in the 2013-14 preseason. The Mavs have alternated wins and losses so far losing 94-92 to New Orleans, beating Memphis 95-90, losing to Orlando 102-94 and beating the Pacers 92-85. Dirk Nowitzki led the team in points in the second and third games with 20 and 24 points, respectively, and leads the team in points per game with 15.3. Shawn Marion’s 11 rebounds against the Pacers were the most by a player so far in a Dallas preseason game. The Mavericks still have four preseason game remaining:

- Oct 23 vs Atlanta
- Oct 25 vs Indiana
8-23-13: While Mark Cuban and the Mavs may have struck out in the Dwight Howard derby, all is not lost in the big D. Dallas revamped their entire backcourt from top to bottom, including free agent signings of Monta Ellis, Jose Calderon and Devin Harris while drafting PG Shane Larkin out of the University of Miami. The steady shooting hand of Dirk Nowitzki is still the strength in the middle, though big man Samuel Dalembert replaces Chris Kaman at the Center position.
The Mavericks open their home schedule on Wednesday, October 30th against the Atlanta Hawks. The Houston Rockets travel north to Dallas on November 20th and once again on January 29th. The Miami Heat will visit town on Tuesday, February 18th.

8-15-13: Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is going to continue to build his team around Dirk Nowitzki for as long as the All-Star forward plans to play. Cuban says he has "no idea," how long Dirk will continue to play, but he'll "talk to Dirk about it. Pretty much whatever he wants. Dirk's got a no-trade deal, so whether it's one year, three years, 20 years, it really doesn't matter. He gets to sign and re-sign as often as he wants. The length of the contract is more about how long longer Dirk wants to play more than anything else."
7-23-13: The Mavs have finalized deal with free agent F/C Brandan Wright. The deal is worth $10 million over two years with an addition 1.1 million in incentives. f
7-22-13: The Mavericks have hired 35-year-old Gersson Rosas as their new general manager. He had previously been with the Houston Rockets as their VP of basketball operations.
7-18-13: The Mavericks have agreed to sign free agent center Samuel Dalembert to a two-year, $7.5 million deal.
7-12-13: On Friday the Mavericks signed
Monte Ellis to a three-year deal. He's guaranteed at least $25 million and could make as much as $30 million.
7-7-13: Dallas will sign Jose Calderon to a four-year, $29 million deal.

6-12-13: Being a .500 team is unfamiliar for Dallas within the last decade or so, particularly, during the reign of future hall of famer Dirk Nowitzki. Sadly for Dirk he missed a large part of the season early on recovering from off season surgery. Dallas got off to a decent start and was in the playoff race for much of the season before tailing off. Defense was a struggle all year for this club, something that was a staple for them in their championship season. Dallas will select 13th overall later this month in the draft and many are wondering if the pursuit for Dwight Howard will continue.
2-19-13: The Mavericks season took a hard jolt when Dirk Nowitzki has to miss substantial time due to surgery. Despite their attempts to keep their heads above water, the Mavs currently sit in 11th place at 23-29, 4.5 games out of the 8th seed. Looking to rebuild while still competing means this position that they are in comes as no surprise to anyone, really. The Mavericks have about 2-3 weeks to make a serious push or else they will be headed toward the lottery where owner Mark Cuban will look to rebuild through free agency and the draft.
11-26-12: Mark Cuban’s group has tried to hold the fort down while their star player, Dirk Nowitzki heals from off season surgery. Hitting the road at 7-7 isn’t where they would like to be but with a brand new roster and the maturation in the game of OJ Mayo, Dallas can’t complain for two long. With games against the Sixers and Bulls this week, it will be interesting to see how they do. The Mavs gave a glimpse of their offensive potential with a win against the Knicks last week avenging their loss in New York earlier in the season.
