12-5-14: The New York Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference this season as the team has only been able to post a 4-12 record in the first five weeks of the new NBA season. The Knicks started this week by setting out on the road to Oklahoma City to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road. During the contest the Knicks were once again without their star player in Carmelo Anthony for the game as the Knicks forward continues to battle an injury. In his absence Amar’e Stoudemire had to pick up the bulk of the shooting opportunities and the scoring as he scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead his team in both categories. Tim Hardaway Jr. was the only other member of the Knicks to even score in double figures in the contest as the Thunder went on to easily handle the Knicks by the score of 105-78. The Knicks looked to get back in the win column in their next contest when the team traveled back home to Madison Square Garden to play host to the Miami Heat. During the contest the Knicks welcomed Carmelo Anthony back to the court and he responded scoring 31 points to lead all scorers while snatching nine rebounds. Once again the Knicks supporting cast was absent for much of the contest as the only other New York player to score in double figures was Amar’e Stoudemire who finished with 19 points in a 86-79 loss to the Heat. Miami also welcomed back Dwyane Wade after battling an injury for the better part of two weeks and enjoyed his 27 point outburst in the victory. The Knicks looked to get back to their winning ways in their next contest at home in what turned out to be a battle for New York bragging rights with the Brooklyn Nets. During the contest Carmelo Anthony played over 42 minutes for the Knicks taking a game leading 22 shots and scoring 20 points while teammate Jose Calderon added 19 points on 7-9 shooting. The Knicks fell behind early and once again relied on the three point shot to climb back into the contest late in the third quarter before the superior shooting of the Nets took over. Brooklyn’s center Brook Lopez led all Nets players with 23 points while Joe Johnson added 22 points in a 98-93 victory over Carmelo and the Knicks. New York finished their week off by heading back home to Madison Square Garden to play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers. During the contest the Cavaliers had a plan to limit Carmelo Anthony’s damage to the team and Cleveland executed it perfectly holding the Knicks guard to just nine points on 4-19 shooting. Tim Hardaway Jr. attempted to pick up the scoring slack for New York along with Amar’e Stoudemire but the duo could not make up for cold nights shooting from Iman Shumpert and Jose Calderon. Cleveland let New York stick around for much of the contest despite holding down their top scorers down and may not have been able to hang on had it not been for 37 points from Kyrie Irving. Irving and LeBron James led the Cavaliers to a narrow 90-87 victory over the Knicks to extend their winning streak to three games. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 4-16. 11-28-14: The New York Knicks spent heavily on Carmelo Anthony in free agency this summer but he has not been enough as the team has posted a 3-10 record to start the 2014/2015 season. The Knicks started this week by traveling to Philadelphia to take on the winless Philadelphia 76ers on the road. In the contest the winless Sixers had just three players score in double figures led by Nerlens Noel’s 17 points and 12 rebounds double-double but once again it was not enough for Philadelphia. Carmelo Anthony took over the contest for the Knicks scoring 25 points while Amar’e Stoudemire added a 16 point and 11 rebound double-double in a 91-83 victory for the Knicks, their fourth of the young season. The Knicks looked to make it two in a row as New York traveled to Houston to take on a tough Houston Rockets team. In the game the Knicks were led by just 14 points from Carmelo Anthony as the New York forward was the only player on the team to score in double digits. Houston meanwhile enjoyed a 36 point night from James Harden as the Rockets went on to beat the Knicks by the score of 91-86. The Knicks finished their week off by traveling to Dallas to take on a tough Dallas Mavericks team on the road. During the contest the Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony but still played Dallas tough forcing the game into overtime. The Knicks offensive attack was led by 21 points and 10 rebounds from Jose Calderon in the contest but New York didn’t have an answer on the night for Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki scored 30 points to lead all scorers in the contest while Tyson Chandler pulled down a staggering 25 rebounds as the Mavericks went on to edge the Knicks by the score of 109-102. 11-21-14: The New York Knicks hoped for a much better start to their 2014/2015 season but the team has only mustered a 2-7 start to their campaign. The Knicks have gotten everything they could have hoped for and more from Carmelo Anthony but his supporting cast has been less than stellar to start the year. The Knicks started this week by traveling back home to take on the Utah Jazz in a home game hoping to turn their season around. In the contest the Knicks were once again led offensively by Carmelo Anthony who finished with a strong 46 points but only one other Knicks player, Pablo Prigioni, scored in double figures in the contest. Gordon Hayward scored 33 points for the Jazz while Derrick Favors added a double-double for Utah in a game that went down to the final buzzer. The shot before the final buzzer came from Utah and when it was knocked down the Jazz stole a game from the Knicks by the score of 102-100. The Knicks looked to be on the winning side of their next contest as the team traveled back home to take on the Denver Nuggets in Madison Square Garden. In the contest Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while J.R. Smith added 28 points of his own in a 109-93 victory over the Nuggets. In the loss Denver’s offensive attack was led by 18 points from Arron Afflalo but the team shot just 39% from the field and 38% from three point land on the night. New York continued their schedule this week by traveling to Milwaukee to take on the Milwaukee Bucks in a road game. In the game the Knicks were led by the usual suspects of Carmelo Anthony who scored 26 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. who finished with 24 points while the team shot an impressive 55% from the field. The Bucks were that much better though in this contest matching the Knicks 55% shooting percentage while also knocking down 53% of their three point attempts. The Bucks leading scorer was Ersan Ilyasova who finished with 20 points in a 117-113 victory for the Bucks. New York finished their week’s schedule off by traveling to Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in another road game for the Knicks. In the game the Timberwolves definitely had a plan to keep the ball out of Carmelo Anthony’s hand and the team executed the plan quite well. Anthony was held to just 10 shots on the night and five three point attempts while only finishing with 20 points, although he did still lead the Knicks offensively. In fact the Wolves held Amar’e Stoudemire to just nine shots on the night and the Knicks team to just 69 shots in the contest. The Wolves on the other hand took 89 shots knocking down 49% of them in a 115-99 victory over the Knicks. Minnesota was led by 37 points from Kevin Martin in the win for the Timberwolves. 11-14-14: The New York Knicks start to this 2014/2015 season did not start out as planned as the team finished the week with a 2-3 record. The Knicks started this week by traveling to their cross town rivals to take on the Brooklyn Nets in a road game. In the game the Nets were red hot from the field shooting an impressive 51% from the field, 58% from three point land, and 77% from the free throw line while the Knicks were held to just 41% from the field, 42% from beyond the arc, and 81% from the charity stripe. In the contest Deron Williams led all scorers for the Nets with 29 points while Brook Lopez added 20 points in a 110-99 victory for Brooklyn. The Knicks scoring attack was led by 19 points from Carmelo Anthony but it was not enough in the loss. The Knicks looked to rebound in their next contest when the team traveled to Atlanta to take on the Atlanta Hawks. Carmelo Anthony once again led the Knicks in scoring with 20 points while Iman Shumpert added 19 points but once again it was not enough for New York as the Knicks fell to the Atlanta Hawks by the score of 103-96. In the game Kyle Korver led all scorers with 27 points while Jeff Teague added 17 points in the Hawks victory. The Knicks had a chance at redemption in their very next game as the team played this same Atlanta Hawks team but this time at home in Madison Square Garden. In the contest Carmelo Anthony once again led New York in scoring with 25 points and once again the Knicks cast of supporting stars could not do enough to help the Knicks forward. Iman Shumpert did add 18 points for the Knicks but New York could not overcome 19 points from Paul Millsap and 17 points from Kyle Korver in a 91-85 victory for the Hawks. The Knicks finished their week off by traveling to Orlando to take on the Orlando Magic. In the contest it was the same old story of this season for the Knicks as Carmelo Anthony led the team in scoring with 27 points but received little help offensively from the rest of his team as the Knicks fell to the Magic by the score of 97-95. Evan Fournier scored 28 points for the Magic while Nikola Vucevic added 20 points in the Magic victory. When the week was all said and done the team finished with an overall record of 2-7. 11-7-14: The New York Knicks started their 2014/2015 season off last week by losing to the Chicago Bulls before bouncing back to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers to push their record to 1-1 on the season. With the 2014/2015 season entering its first full week the Knicks hosted the Charlotte Hornets at home in a matchup of 1-1 teams. In the game Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 28 points including his 20,000th point of his career while Amar’e Stoudemire chipped in 17 and Iman Shumpert chipped in 15 points while four Hornets scored in double figures led by Al Jefferson’s 21 points in a 96-93 home victory for the Knicks. Two nights later the Knicks were back at home in Madison Square Garden and this time the team was hosting the Washington Wizards. New York’s Carmelo Anthony scored 19 points while Iman Shumpert added 18 points as the only two Knicks to score in double digits in the game. Washington on the other hand had six players in double figures including 17 points each from Paul Pierce and GarretTemple in a 98-83 victory for the Wizards. The Knicks finished their week off by traveling to Detroit to take on the Pistons. In the contest Carmelo Anthony had an off night shooting but was picked up by 20 big points from Tim Hardaway Jr. and 17 points from Jason Smith. It was not enough for New York as Detroit’s Greg Monroe and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope offensive breakout was too much to overcome. The Pistons would narrowly edge the Knicks by the score of 98-95 in a game that was decided on the free throw line. When the week was all said and done the team finished an overall record of 2-3 after a tough week. 10-31-14: The New York Knicks tipped off the 2014-2015 season by facing off with the Chicago Bulls at home after a 3-4 preseason record in the Atlantic Division. New York is preaching patience this season after just a 35 win season last year amongst a ton of change in Madison Square Garden. The Knicks have a first year coach in Derek Fisher and traded away Tyson Chandler over the summer. New York trimmed their roster to the league maximum 15 players after trading injured Travis Outlaw and his hefty salary to the Philadelphia 76ers for Arnett Moultrie who was immediately waived. New York saved roughly $4.7 million with the trade and subsequent waive and took their team home to host the Chicago Bulls. The Knicks would fall to the Bulls by the score of 104-80 led by Carmelo Anthony’s 14 points. New York had a second game this week against Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and took down the Cavs by the score of 95-90. Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points in the contest and the Knicks did just enough on the defensive side to keep James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love off the board and off the boards in the victory. The Knicks went 1-1 on the week and currently sport that record heading into week two of the NBA season. 10-29-14: Under the direction of new head coach Derek Fisher, the Knicks will look to put their 37-45 record from a season ago in the rearview. Despite their struggles on the court, the team still owns one of the most expensive secondary averages at home in the NBA. The most expensive home game on the Knicks schedule this season will be against the Cavaliers on February 22, when the average price is currently listed at $506.45 with a get-in price of $137.
10-24-14: Under new head coach Derek Fisher, the New York Knicks will begin their season hoping to perfect the Triangle Offense. Carmelo Anthony will again be the center of attention in the Big Apple after opting to stay in New York following his adventures in free agency in the offseason. He’ll be joined by newcomers Jose Calderon and Samuel Dalembert, who were acquired from the Mavericks for Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler.
10-15-14: The New York Knicks have played four games on their preseason schedule so far, splitting the first four games starting with a preseason opening loss to the Boston Celtics on Oct 8. Since then, the Knicks return the favor to the Celtics with a 96-80 win over Boston on Oct 11, followed by a loss to the Toronto Raptors and 84-77 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct 14. New York still have three games remaining on their preseason schedule with matchups with Milwaukee, Washington, and Toronto before the Knick kick off their regular season on Oct 29 at Madison Square Garden against the Chicago Bulls.
10-8-14: The New York Knicks kick off their preseason tonight with a matchup against the Boston Celtics at the XL Center. Followed by another game with the Celtics on Saturday at the Mohegan Sun Arena, the Knicks return to the Garden on October 13 where they will host the Toronto Raptors. Matchups with the 76ers, Bucks, and Wizards also await the Knicks as they end their preseason schedule on October 24 against the Toronto Raptors at the Bell Centre. The Knicks come into the season with a new head coach in Derrick Fisher and many roster additions but it remains to be seen if the Knicks can be formidable.
9-22-14: Carmelo Anthony is back is now looking in better shape than he has been in since his early days in Denver. He was recently quoted as saying he is very excited to the learn the triangle offense that president Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher is implementing. Losing weight will help Anthony play more of the small forward position and help him keep up with some of the younger players like Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway jr, and 2014 draft pick Cleanthony Early. Melo and the Knicks look to make the playoffs this year after a disappointing finish last season which saw them just miss out of the final 8th seed spot.
8-13-14: The New York Knicks had a 2013-14 campaign they would like to forget. This year they have a new coach in Derrick Fisher and the organization can breathe a little since their star player Carmelo Anthony resigned with franchise. However, they have a coach with no experience and salary cap issues caused them unable any game changing moves. However, they did make some tweak on their roster trading away Raymond Felton and Center Tyson Chandler to Dallas in return for point guard Jose Calderon, back up point guard Shane Larkin, center Samuel Dalembert, bench guard Wayne Ellington, and two second round draft picks.

6-10-14: While there's still speculation on what the Knicks will do with the free agency situation of Carmelo Anthony, Phil Jackson has made the first splash of the summer by announcing Derek Fisher as the new head coach. While this will be Fisher's first coaching job on any level, Fisher has years of experience in the triangle offense, and was a member of Jackson's championship teams with the Lakers in the 2000's.
4-7-14: The Phoenix Suns defeated the Knicks on Friday, but New York closed out its road trip in style. The Knicks beat the Golden State Warriors on Sunday and the Utah Jazz on Monday. J.R. Smith scored 21 points at Oracle Arena to help the Knicks win, 89-84. Then on the next night, Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 34 points to help Mike Woodson’s squad to its second straight victory. Amar’e Stoudemire returned to the lineup two days later, and the Knicks destroyed the visiting Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden. With their recent hot streak, the Knicks look like they could make it to the playoffs.
4-1-14: On Friday, the Knicks pushed their winning streak to eight games with a 93-92 victory against the 76ers in Philadelphia. Then, Iman Shumpert missed Sunday’s game with the flu, and the Knicks squandered a 17-point lead to lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers by six points. New York’s second-half struggles continued on Tuesday as the team gave up a franchise-record 51 points in the third quarter to the Los Angeles Lakers. Phil Jackson, who in attendance at the Staples Center that night, witnessed the Knicks get blown out, 127-96. However, the Knicks bounced back the next night in Sacramento to win by eight points and are surprisingly still in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
3-24-14: The Knicks had a light week on the court, but the organization was busy off the court. On Saturday, Carmelo Anthony’s 23 points led the way as the Knicks won, 115-94, over the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden. Then on Tuesday, James Dolan introduced Phil Jackson as the team’s new president. The Knicks have been playing very well since the Jackson rumors began. He was met with a standing ovation on Wednesday in the Knicks’ home game against the Eastern Conference-best Indiana Pacers. Anthony’s game-high 34 points made Jackson happy. The Knicks beat the Pacers, 92-86, for New York’s seventh straight win.
3-17-14: With all the talk about Phil Jackson joining the team, the Knicks finally put together a perfect week. Although they struggled in February, they have played very well thus far in March. With their 4-0 week, they pushed their winning streak to five games, matching their longest one of the season. On Friday, the Knicks blew out the Utah Jazz, 108-81. Eastern Conference Player of the Week Carmelo Anthony put up game-highs in points and assists that evening. Then, New York beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics all by at least 10 points, marking the first time since November 2012 that the Knickerbockers had five straight double-digit wins.
3-10-14: On the last game of their three-game road trip, the Knicks finally ended their longest losing streak of 2014. After they lost by 23 points to the Golden State Warriors on Friday, they traveled to play a back-to-back set. The first game was on Sunday in Chicago, and it was an ugly night for the Knicks. New York lost by 19 points as Joakim Noah went for a triple-double. Then, the next night, Mike Woodson decided to insert Amar’e Stoudemire and J.R. Smith into the starting lineup against the Detroit Pistons. Unfortunately, the Knicks struggled in the second half and pushed their losing streak to seven games. However, on Wednesday, Woodson stuck with the same starters and New York got the 12-point victory.
3-3-14: This is just getting ugly for the Knicks. They played four games this past week, and they lost all four of them in a variety of ways. On Friday in Orlando, Carmelo Anthony went for 44 points and 11 rebounds, but the Magic won, 129-121, in double-overtime. Then on Saturday at Philips Arena, the Knicks led by 17 points early in the third quarter, but gave up that large lead and lost by nine points to the Atlanta Hawks. On Monday, Anthony stepped up after a poor first quarter to score more than 40 points again, but Dirk Nowitzki got the last laugh as he hit the game-winning buzzer-beater. With the Knicks’ loss to the Miami Heat on Thursday, Mike Woodson’s squad has now dropped 10 of its last 12 games. Not only was the Knicks’ week horrible on the court, but it was also off the court: Raymond Felton was arrested.
2-26-14: It's been an eventful few days for the Knicks after a quiet trade deadline. First they released Metta World Peace and backup PG Beno Udrih. Then on Tuesday PG Raymond Felton turned himself over to police after his soon to be ex-wife turned in a illegal handgun owned by the Knicks PG. He may face jail time for multiple gun charges. On Wednesday, the Knicks made two small moves, signing free agents Shannon Brown and Earl Clark to ten-day contracts.
2-24-14: Tim Hardaway Jr. started All-Star weekend by putting on a show in the Rising Stars Challenge. He went toe to toe with Dion Waiters and scored a game-high 36 points for Team Webber. He made 7-of-16 shots from 3-point distance and then participated with his father on Team Hardaway in the Shooting Stars Competition the following night. Then on Sunday, Carmelo Anthony set an All-Star game record with eight 3-pointers as he scored 30 points for the Eastern Conference in the victory. Hardaway and Anthony continued their hot shooting by scoring game-high points on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The Knicks split the back-to-back set against the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans.
2-18-14: February continues to be an ugly month for the Knickerbockers. In the first half of February, New York has just one win in six tries. That victory was by 27 points though. On Friday, the Knicks hosted a Denver Nuggets team that had been playing good basketball. Former Nugget Carmelo Anthony, who scored a game-high 31 points that evening, led his current team to the much-needed win. However, he could not prevent losses to the Oklahoma City Thunder or to the Sacramento Kings. Anthony had a season-low 15 points on Sunday at Oklahoma City. Then, he bounced back to score 36 points and grab 11 rebounds on Wednesday, but the Knicks missed J.R. Smith in their home loss to the Kings.
2-10-14: The Knicks’ roller-coaster season hit another low this past week. They lost each of their three games and fell back to 11 games below .500. New York entered Saturday’s contest with a four-game winning streak, but LeBron James and the Miami Heat went into Madison Square Garden and handed the Knicks their 28th loss of the season. The Knickerbockers had just 28 losses during all of the 2012-13 regular season. Iman Shumpert then returned from a two-game absence to play on Monday night in Milwaukee, and J.R. Smith was happy to see him back. Smith dropped a season-high 30 points, but the Bucks beat the Knicks by three points. Carmelo Anthony was named January’s Eastern Conference Player of the Month two days later, but he only scored 26 points on Wednesday en route to his team’s 94-90 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
2-3-14: It sure was a fantastic week for the Knicks. Carmelo Anthony began it by scoring the most points in modern Madison Square Garden history. His 62 points, which also represented the highest-scoring performance in the NBA this season, led New York to the 29-point victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Then on Sunday, Anthony put up a game-high 35 points as the Knicks beat the Lakers, 110-103. Although Iman Shumpert suffered a sprained shoulder two days later, Anthony was stellar again in the Knicks’ blowout of the Boston Celtics. The Knickerbockers then made it four in a row by destroying the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers on national television.
1-27-14: The Knicks had a quite an ugly week at Madison Square Garden. They played three games, all of which were at home, and loss them by a combined 41 points. The New York team definitely missed big men Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin, who were out for each of the three contests due to ankle injuries. On Friday, the Knickerbockers hosted the Los Angeles Clippers, and Carmelo Anthony registered just the second 20-20 game of his career. Although he shot 4-of-23 from the field, he made a season-high 16 free throws in 16 tries. New York then fell to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday and to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the news gets even worse. With Andrea Bargnani’s recent elbow injury, New York’s depth at power forward and center is now very shallow.
1-20-14: Just as the Knicks got Tyson Chandler back into the lineup, they lost Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin to ankle injuries. While New York seems to be racking up its number of inactive players, the team has surprisingly been doing the same thing with wins in 2014. They began the New Year by winning two of three games on their road trip to Texas. Then, the Knicks strung together five consecutive victories, which is by far their longest winning streak of the season. However, it has not been all smooth sailing this past week, as they dropped games in both Charlotte and Indiana. In addition, J.R. Smith is becoming a handful again as he is now clashing with the coaching staff.
1-3-14: It sure was an odd week for the Knicks. Not too many people expected them to drop both games to the Toronto Raptors and then defeat the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center. The Knickerbockers’ injuries have continued to hamper the team’s progress. Raymond Felton has yet to return to the court, but Carmelo Anthony came back after a three-game absence and scored 27 points with a game-high 12 rebounds in San Antonio. Iman Shumpert also put up a career-high 27 points in the shocking victory over the Spurs. With Pablo Prigioni and Metta World Peace remaining out, Shumpert will have to continue to help out Anthony.
12-30-13: When the season began, most expected the New York basketball teams to begin with records around 19-9. Instead, they both stand at 9-19 through 28 games. The Knicks have alternated losses and wins over each of their last nine contests. With losses to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday and to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, New York remains one of two teams that are winless against the Western Conference this season. While the Knickerbockers did get a victory on Monday over the Orlando Magic, both Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton injured themselves in that contest. Without those two starters, the Knicks encountered the NBA’s worst home loss ever on Christmas Day by the score of 123-94 at the hands of the Thunder.
12-22-13: Just as the Knicks get players back from injury, they seem to lose several more. Although Tyson Chandler played his first game in over a month on Wednesday and Raymond Felton expects to return on Monday, Amar'e Stoudemire, Pablo Prigioni and Kenyon Martin all suffered injuries in the last week. Well, at least New York still has Carmelo Anthony, who has scored more than 25 points in each of his last six games. The Knicks went 3-3 in those contests, which is still good enough for staying in contention in the 2013-14 Atlantic Division. With Wednesday’s victory, the orange and blue moved to only three games away from the top of the division. .
12-13-13: New York already has three wins in December, which matches the team’s win total from all of November. With their 38-point victory on Friday in Orlando, the Knicks won consecutive games by 30 points for the first time since 1997. However, the Celtics went into New York two days later and delivered the Knicks their third-worst loss in Madison Square Garden history. The Knicks then traveled to Cleveland and lost by 15 points on Tuesday in addition to losing starting point guard Raymond Felton for a few weeks due to a strained left hamstring. While the Knicks rebounded the next day to win a low-scoring affair against the Bulls, they still own one of the league’s worst records at 6-15. Knicks fans hope that Tyson Chandler will save this sinking ship soon.
12-6-13: The Knicks finally snapped their
nine-game losing streak on Thursday in a national television showdown at the Barclays Center. New York never trailed in the 30-point drubbing of Brooklyn. It was only the Knicks’ fourth win of the season, but such a large margin of victory against their cross-town rival should keep Mike Woodson temporarily off the hot seat. In the previous two games, his team lost to the Denver Nuggets and New Orleans Pelicans by a combined six points, so it looks like the Knicks are gaining momentum. In addition, Tyson Chandler, who has only played four games this season due to a fracture of his right fibula, should be coming back within the month.
11-28-13: The New York Knicks have now lost seven straight games and a team that was expected to compete for a top-4 playoff seed in the East is the not-so-proud owner of a 3-11 record. Struggling to cope with injuries at key positions, the Knicks game plan at this point is to hope Carmelo Anthony can drop 40 and then pray that either J.R. Smith or Andrea Bargnani can wake up from their sleep walk and catch fire. As bad as things have been for New York, ‘Melo has been tremendous. Anthony is averaging a career high 10.1 rebounds per game to go along with his usual high scoring output.
11-22-13: The Andrea Bargnani Experiment is not working. People tried their best to buy in and believe, but with Tyson Chandler out and Bargnani “anchoring” the middle, the Knicks are sitting at 3-8 on the season, tied with for the 3rd worst record in the league. The Knicks fell in OT to the Pacers on Wednesday night after giving away a 3-point lead with five seconds remaining on a foolish foul by Iman Shumpert and lost their three previous games prior. Right now for the Knicks, their game is completely Melo-reliant and until someone else can step up and provide some legitimate production, the best hope is for a low-level playoff seed.
11-15-13: The New York Knicks looked to be simply ravaged in week three, as Carmelo Anthony was forced to brave a sluggish J.R. Smith and a slew of injuries to help New York even stay competitive. His 45 points weren’t quite enough in a loss to the Houston Rockets on Thursday night, as the Knicks continued to struggle defensively and dropped to 3-5 through their first eight contests.
11-8-13:
Through two weeks the Knicks don’t know how to use Andrea Bargnani, lost center Tyson Chandler to a knee injury, and have been without suspended scorer J.R. Smith. Needless to say, no one should be too surprised that they’re just 1-3 through four games. Carmelo Anthony is forced to play hero ball and with no Chandler in the middle, Bargnani will likely have to go back to center and play out of position. The Knicks still have the tools to produce on offense, but without Chandler and any defensive intensity, they may continue to struggle to win games going forward.
10-30-13: There is growing pressure on this Knicks team as it feels the need to advance past the second round of the playoffs this time around. After a fantastic preseason that included a game-winning shot, rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. hopes that he won himself some minutes on the court this season. With J.R. Smith coming off knee surgery, Hardaway will have a chance to prove himself in games that count, as he will be Iman Shumpert’s backup. Hardaway could be a key ingredient of the team’s future like Shumpert as the team exercised its fourth-year contract option on him.
10-18-13: The New York Knicks are 2-2 so far this preseason. They opened the 2013-14 preseason with a 103-102 win over the Celtics. Iman Shumpert led the way for the Knicks with 18 points, 3 boards and 3 assists. New York then dropped their next two; a 100-91 loss in Toronto and a 111-81 blowout against the Celtics in Manchester, New Hampshire. On Thursday the Knicks got back in the win column with a 98-89 win against the Washington Wizards in Baltimore. Playing in his hometown Carmelo Anthony dropped 22 points to lead the Knicks. 10-17-13: Carmelo Anthony publicly stated on Wednesday that he will most likely opt-out of his contract with the Knicks at the end of the 2013-14 season and become a free agent. The all-star forward did mention that he wants to remain in New York, but would like to go through the free agency process before signing long-term.
10-14-13: The New York Knicks defending the division title will depend on the team's health and chemistry throughout the season. Despite being the significantly younger than they were last season The knees of Stoudemire and the shoulder of CameloAnthony are key to the Knicks success. Head coach Mike Woodson will have to decipher through a logjam at the two guard position. The first round draft pick Tim Hardaway Junior joining the likes of JR Smith and Iman Shumpert it will be interesting to see if he can crack the rotation. The New York Knicks as a team feel that they got better during the off-season. They will host the Milwaukee Bucks for their home opener on October 30th.
10-2-13: The Knicks have signed free agent Chris Douglas-Roberts. He played in just six games for the Mavericks last season and averaged 2.8 points. He also played 16 games for the Texas Legends D-League teams and averaged 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.44 steals. The Knicks also waived Justin Brownlee.
8-24-13: It's being reported that the 2015 NBA All-Star game festivities will be split between Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center. The game will reportedly be played at MSG, while all other festivities will be held at the Barclays Center.
8-23-13: After finishing with their best record since 1997, the Knicks spent their summer re-tooling, rather than rebuilding. The splashiest offseason move comes by way of a trade to acquire 7’ outshoot shooter, Andrea Bargnani. While the most important move the Knicks made this season was to bring back J.R. Smith’s swag. New York also somehow managed to get younger, improving the team’s average age from 57 to 46, through picking up the amnestied Metta World Peace and veteran backup PG Beno Udrih.
The Brooklyn Nets will visit Madison Square Garden for the first time this season on Monday January 20th and make their return trip to Manhattan on Wednesday, April 2nd. The defending champion Miami Heat make their first visit to NYC on January 9th and return for the second time on Saturday, February 1st. The Knicks will once again play a home Christmas game on December 25th when they face off against Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

8-21-13: Newly acquired Andrea Bargnani will not play for Italy in EuroBasket this season. The former Raptor has been suffering from pneumonia since early August.
8-19-13: Knicks point guard Raymond Felton lost 15 pounds during the offseason and is encouraged by his new, thinner, physique. He has also gotten into a bit of a trash talk battle with newly acquired Nets forward Paul Pierce. Responding to Pierce's comments about the Nets taking over New York Felton said, “They will never take over the city. Because we’ve got ‘New York’ on our chest. They’ve got ‘Brooklyn’ on their chest, and we’ve got ‘New York.’ They’ll never take over the city."
8-8-13: Free agent point guard Beno Udrih will sign a one-year deal with the Knicks.
8-6-13: The Knicks have signed free agent Jeremy Tyler to a partially guaranteed contract. The 6-foot-10 Tyler has averaged 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 63 games with the Warriors and Hawks.
8-5-13: The Knicks will open the season at home against Milwaukee. The official 2013-14 NBA schedule will be announced tomorrow.
7-24-13: The Knicks have resigned forward Kenyon Martin.
7-15-13: The Knicks and Metta World Peace have reached an agreement on a two-year deal worth $1.6 million per year.
7-8-13: The Knicks and Tim Hardaway Jr. have agreed on a 4-year, $6.1 million rookie deal.
7-3-13: JR Smith and the Knicks have agreed on a 4-year contract extension worth right around $25 million dollars.
The Knicks have also come to terms with Pablo Prigioni and have agreed on a three-year deal worth just under $6 million. The third year is a team option.
7-1-13: The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors have agreed on a trade that will bring former #1 pick Andrea Bargnani to the Knicks in exchange for Marcus Camby, Steve Novak, one a first-rounder, and two future second-rounders.

Tim Hardaway Jr. was impressive during the NCAA tournament and comes from a bloodline of NBA talent; He is the son of Tim Hardaway. Hardaway Junior is a 6-7 wingman that can shoot the outside shot and also slash of the basket. The Knicks will want him to fill a void that is likely to be vacated by the departure of JR Smith due to free agency. Hardaway Junior will likely have a role on the Knicks but will most definitely play behind Iman Shumpert. He will also have to show defensive minded coach, Mike Woodson that he can defend on the NBA level. Last year the New York Knicks' defense was vastly improved because of Woodsons attention on that end. The Knicks won 31 games at home last year and had an average ticket price of $365 the highest in the NBA. With basketball at its highest interest level ever in the New York City area with the arrival of the Brooklyn Nets look for prices to increase as the next have more success.
6-12-13: At the start of the season, the Knicks set out a series of goals. They were able to accomplish a few of those goals but with a second round knockout which has now become their 2012-2013 reality, there is still much left to be desired. The Knicks won 54 games along with their first Atlantic division title since 1994. Winning the division and being a top 3 seed were both goals that were accomplished. Carmelo Anthony also won the NBA scoring title. After having their lack of size and rebounding exposed in the second round of the playoffs, look for New York to try and add size and youth to their roster for next season.
2-14-13: As the Knicks head into the break they will ponder the thought of possible changes that may or may not have to be made. Currently on a small two game losing streak, the Knicks have slowly fallen out of the championship conversation amongst NBA analysts. Despite big aspirations and even bigger talk, the Knicks play has left much to be desired through 50 games. The Knicks are still in first place in their division but have squandered many opportunities to put some real distance between themselves and the rest of the division. The Knicks are only 11-9 since the return of Amar’e Stoudemire which is disappointing. Before Amar’e returned the team was 21-10. The All-Star break will provide some much needed rest for certain Knicks and it will also give them an opportunity to get some key players back, such as Marcus Camby.
11-20-12: Off to their best start in years, the Knicks remain atop the Atlantic Division with a 7-1 record. With an upcoming three game road trip, their second in 10 days (2-1 on first 3 game road trip) it will be interesting to see if the excellent play will continue. After the road trip the Knicks will have 1 day off before facing Detroit at Madison Square Garden. For now, the team seems to be clicking on all cylinders from top to bottom, but what will be interesting is the return of Amar’e Stoudemire sometime around Christmas. If Amar’e can blend in quickly, the Knicks will likely remain a dominant force in the East and give themselves a strong chance to contend for a trip to the finals.
