Sean Donohue, the CEO of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, got a 3 percent raise and a $113,850 cash bonus Thursday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

The D/FW Airport board approved the pay increase for the airport's top executive as a reward for the strong financial performance of the airport, the Star-Telegram reported.

In his first 13 months on the job, Donohue has overseen the airport add new routes worldwide, which was a top priority when he took the job.

Donohue's salary will be $453,200 per year with the raise. That's in addition to the $113,850 cash bonus, the Star-Telegram reported.

With the raise, he now earns more than his predecessor Jeff Fegan, who retired in October after 19 years on the job.

Just this week, D/FW Airport added direct service to Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways. That service flies three days a week now and will expand to seven days a week in April, generating $200 million for the North Texas economy.

In October, Emirates and Qantas started using the Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger plane, for their routes to Dubai and Sydney, respectively. And over the summer Qatar Airways started flying Doha and American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, started flying to Hong Kong and Shanghai.

D/FW Airport is one of only seven airports worldwide that serves more than 200 direct destinations.
