There are some things the French still do very well. In almost every fashion-savvy city in the United States, Louis Vuitton is the most popular designer handbag, according to data from luxury consignment retailer The RealReal, which looked at sales from its top 10 biggest-spending cities.
The results, published by StyleList, indicate that Vuitton is tops in Dallas and Houston, with Chanel close behind. Both luxury brands are based in Paris, as is Hermès, the third most popular in Houston. But in Dallas, an Italian interloper, Gucci, took third place.
Vuitton's popularity could also explain a Dallas resale shop almost entirely dedicated to the coveted handbags.
Of the top 10, Chanel came out on top in New York and Miami. Other brands that stood out in the survey were two more French companies: Céline, which showed up on the list in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, and Goyard, which came in second in Denver.
