Athletic Team Competition
Hempstead High School has qualified for out-of-district play in four sports.  HHS Students Not only Excel in their Sport but in the Classroom as well.

Volleyball

  • Individual Awards
    • Nine (9) athletes received Academic All-District Honors
    • One (1) athlete selected to First Team All-District
    • Two (2) athletes selected to Second Team All-District
    • Four (4) athletes selected as Honorable Mention All-District players

Football

  • Twenty (24) athletes selected to First or Second Team All-District ~ Ten (1) Unanimous Selections ~ One MVP

  • 15 Regional Qualifiers in Adacemics ~ Persuasive Speaking (2), Poetry Interpretation (3), Prose Interpretation (2), Accounting (1), Science (1), and Current Issues (4)
  • Six Alternates to Regional ~ Persuasive Speaking (1), Informative Speaking (2), Prose Interpretation (1), Computer Applications (1), and Social Studies (1)
  • One State Qualifier in Poetry Interpretation

Hempstead High School Band

  • Eight (8) band students qualified for All Region High School Band
  • Three (3) band students advanced to Area tryouts for All State Band
  • Eleven (11) band students received Division I ratings ar the UIL Region 27 Solo & Ensemble Contest
  • Seven (7) band students advanced to State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest ~ To be held May 25
  • Two (2) band ensemble groups (trumpet trio & clarinet choir) advanced to State UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest
  • Color Guard Placed 3rd at Regional Competition
  • Region 27 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest ~ Division I in Sight Reading & Division II on stage

Hempstead Middle School Band

  • Twenty (20) band students received Division I's at the Region 27 UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest
  • UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest ~ Division II in Sight Reading and Division III on stage
