Courtney Love has been a highly idiosyncratic musician for well over 20 years, and Lana Del Rey has picked up that mantle in recent years, so it makes sense the two are pairing up for a tour in 2015. The first stop on the 17-city tour is the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands on May 7.
Del Rey is touring in support of her third album, Ultraviolence, which went straight to No. 1 upon its release in June 2014. Del Rey, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, has been known by a few different stage names through the years, but she settled on Lana Del Rey soon before she hit the big time with her first hit, "Video Games."
Del Rey also has two songs on the soundtrack for Tim Burton's new film, Big Eyes, which will be released on Christmas Day.
Love's out-there personality has been catnip for many throughout her career. Best known for her marriage to Kurt Cobain and stint as the lead singer of Hole, she's recently been in the news for her supporting part in the final season of Sons of Anarchy as well as a guest role in the upcoming new Fox drama Empire.
The duo also stops in Dallas at the Gexa Energy Pavilion on May 9. Love breaks off from the tour midway through; her replacement has not been announced.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday at Livenation.com and through the Live Nation mobile app.
