The holiday season is when even though most devoted Little Black Dress lovers step up their style game, adding sequins, fur, velvet and shine to their party dressing. The roster of fashionable retailers headlining CultureMap's Holiday Pop Up Shop set for Dec. 7 are at the ready with tips to get you through the sparkling season and into the new year.

“The holidays are the perfect time to glam up your wardrobe and be more daring..”

KB Kasuals

KB Kasuals in River Oaks Shopping Center stocks pieces for casual brunches and elegant cocktail parties alike. Store owner Krista Burks suggests keeping post-party looks in mind.

“When shopping for your holiday outfits, make sure they're versatile and can be worn again after the holidays," Burks says. "You can pair our Joa sequin skirt with a basic tee and Converse after the holidays for a chic and trendy look.”

Tootsies
Fashion savvy women flock to Tootsies in Uptown Park all year long, but for the holidays, store manager Chris Goins says color is key.

“Add a slice of color to one’s wardrobe in any jewel tone. A bold piece of bold jewelry, a fun shoe, a statement handbag elevates any look you are working towards," she says.

"I’m always a fan of darkening a woman’s lip color and nail color for the fall season. My color of choice is Bordeaux. You can never go wrong with adding a piece of fur to enhance a casual or an evening look.”

WildBloom

WildBloom in Rice Village is on-trend spot for clothing and apparel and suggests taking chances this season.

“The holidays are the perfect time to glam up your wardrobe and be more daring," a store reps says. "Instead of going for the usual black/brown fur vests, try one with an ombré of teal and grey or black/white checkered pattern.”

Zayver Jewels
Bela Thacker’s Zayver Jewels are shimmering odes to the season and the icing on the proverbial cake during the holidays.

“For me, Christmas has always been about sparking lights, snow, and joy as well as the glamour and the bling," Thacker says. "As a jewelry designer, I have always felt that an outfit is incomplete without that perfect chunky necklace or a pair of elegant earrings.

"Jewelry is always the perfect gift whether for your wife, girlfriend, mother or friend. It's all about making a statement this holiday season.”

SAM and lilli

With so many other things swirling about during the holidays, the style stars at SAM and lilli in West Ave say to take it easy and add some edge.

“Leather is our favorite eye-catching fashion tip for the holidays," the style masters note. Illia makes the perfect moto jacket, that can be thrown over any outfit for an effortless chic look. Here’s a tip. Limit your outfit to one leather piece and coordinate with your favorite sequin top.

The first-ever CultureMap Holiday Pop Up Shop is Dec. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at Silver Street Studios. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. (In the spirit of the season, a portion of the $10 tickets will be donated to VICTORY and the Washington Avenue Arts District.)
