Friends of the Library
Friends Mission Statement
The Friends of the Flower Mound Public Library is a nonprofit organization of volunteers acting to engender public awareness and support of the library to enhance its service to the community.
History
The Friends of the Flower Mound Public Library was chartered as a nonprofit organization in 1984, for the purpose of establishing Flower Mound’s first library. The first library served the area from a small building with less than 2,000 square feet at 3925 Churchill Road. A 4,000 square foot interim library opened in Town Hall in 1994. The dream of the founding Friends was realized when a freestanding 25,000 square foot building opened in February 2000 at 3030 Broadmoor Lane.
Supporting the Library
The Friends support the library by raising funds for materials, supporting children’s and adult programming, holding book sales, volunteering at the library, publicizing library needs, and informing the public about library services.
Ongoing Bricks for Books Campaign
The Friends of the Flower Mound Public Library continue to raise
funds to purchase books and other materials. The ongoing "Bricks for
Books" campaign allows residents to purchase an engraved brick or stone
that is placed at the entrance of the library. Call 972.874.6200 or visit the library for more information.
Donations of Books, DVDs and Other Items
Materials that are accepted for
donation are books, compact discs, and DVDs that are clean and in good
condition. Materials that are not accepted are magazines, VHS, audio cassettes, computer software, computer books more than 3 years old and textbooks.
Items may be added to the library collection based on the
Library’s Collection Development Policy or donated to the Friends of the
