The drought is not an abstract threat for families in Porterville, California.
Three years into a severe drought, hundreds of residential wells in an unincorporated area of Porterville, California, have gone dry, leaving many families without running water. The wait list to drill deeper wells in the area is at least six months. In September, photographer and multimedia storyteller Zoë Meyers visited Porterville, which sits in the San Joaquin Valley within the Central Valley. In this film, two women reflect on how their families and their community have been affected.
