Yesterday, I wrote about the Huber Orchard & Winery's spirits launch party, which is planned for tonight. So while we're on the topic of alcohol in Southern Indiana (it's Repeal Day, so why not?), I thought I also would note that Flat 12 Bierworks' Jeffersonville Taproom is planning a grand opening celebration for tomorrow.

The festivities, which will include special prices on growlers, start at 11 a.m. Live music from Black Birds of Paradise, Juggernaut Jug Band and Bridge 19 is planned. There also will be selections from local food vendors, samples from the new Flat12 menu and, of course, plenty of beer. You can find more on the event on the company's website.

Flat 12 will have about 20 beers on tap at the new location. A few taps will be reserved for guest brews, so expect to find beers from Louisville's Against The Grain Brewery & Smokehouse, Lexington's Country Boy Brewing and Southern Indiana's New Albanian Brewing Co. on Saturday.

Flat 12 is based in Indianapolis, and the Jeffersonville taproom is its first location outside of that city. Earlier this week, I spoke to co-founder and CEO Sean O'Connor about the new location. He said his company was approached by Jeffersonville leaders about opening the facility there. He was impressed by the city and location, which is at 130 W. Riverside Drive.

"When we saw the building sitting right there on the Ohio — it was an absolutely beautiful location," O'Connor said.

Indianapolis has a thriving craft beer scene. And O'Connor believes that craft beer is catching on in the Louisville market as well. People in Southern Indiana are "really thirsty" for craft beer. Interestingly enough, I was just writing about changing American tastes earlier today.
