JFK 50th Anniversary

It's the JFK 50th Anniversary in Dallas this month, on November 22nd, so we've compiled all of our reports on JFK and the anniversary memorial, to take place in Dealey Plaza.

    Blog
Nothing could be crazier or sadder. It is the continued determination of a small group of people in Dallas to tightly control public observations of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination here.

First, the event itself bores them. And I'm sorry, but that's just how we reporters are. Think about how many parades, memorial services and swearings-in you would attend in your life if you were a reporter. You can't even think of it. It's too many.

According to the Jenga-like stack of publicity materials covering my desk, Kennedy season has peaked. Plays. Readings. Art shows. Lectures. Films. Acrobats. Clown cars. Kitten parades. Cooking demos -- who the hell knows? It's getting JFKrazy out there.

It appears that one top commenter wants to stop free speech just like the Mayor attempted to do.  I'm thankful for the Dallas Observer openness to hear comments they may not agree with.  I also want to thank Jim Schutze for his coverage of Dealey Plaza & JFK's 50 anniversary of his murder.  Many people alive at that time, feel that our current government problems are directly related to the unsolved murder of a U.S. President riding through a major city on a sunny day at noon. Please encourage your representatives to release the assassination related files STILL held by the Central Intelligence Agency.  Thank you.

I hope Mr. Mayor enjoyed...HIS... JFK celebration.  Next year Abraham Lincoln's death will be celebrated at Ford's Theatre.  But remember the words ...assassination... may not be spoken. The voters of Dallas deserve appropriate representation.  Why not get the current dumb nuts out of office.  I'm afraid that is the ONLY thing they understand.  (Even than I'm not quite sure

Well, we just witnessed Dallas Sherriff's Deputies punch Alex Jones and push the crowd, trying to provoke a fight. Lupe Valdez should get to the bottom of this in a hurry.

I've been watching Alex Jones for the 11/22 event and it's been great! 4 million viewers on the internet...their Ustream server crashed with 1 million viewers. This was fantastic!
