ABOUT JEFFREY WHITMAN, MD

Jeffrey Whitman, M.D., President and Chief Surgeon of the Key-Whitman Eye Center, was born in Dallas, attended Hillcrest High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University. He earned his M.D. at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and also completed his internship at the same institution. Dr. Whitman completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at Scott and White Clinic in Temple, Texas. Dr. Whitman is married and the proud father of two daughters.

Dr. Whitman is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also one of a few physicians in North Texas to be board certified in both Cataract surgery and LASIK by the American Board of Eye Surgeons. Dr. Whitman is a recipient of the American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award. He is a past President of the American College of Eye Surgeons and the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Whitman has been asked to serve on the boards of the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society, American College of Eye Surgeons, and the Society for Excellence in Eyecare. He is a current Clinical Correspondent for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His memberships include: the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, the American College of Eye Surgeons, the Texas Medical Foundation, the American Society of Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Society for Excellence in Eyecare.

Dr. Whitman is one of the most experienced Cataract and Refractive Surgeons in the North Texas area He is a national leader in the implantation of the accommodating Crystalens® and also specializes in the ReSTOR® and Tecnis multifocal lenses as well as Toric lenses for the correction of astigmatism when performing cataract surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in Texas to be trained in LASIK eye surgery for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism and he performs all-laser, blade free Wavefront customized treatments. He performs the Visian Implantable Contact Lens for patients who cannot undergo LASIK surgery due to severe nearsightedness and insufficient cornea thickness.
