By “going green” you can help make a difference in your community, nation, and world. The Town of Flower Mound encourages residents and businesses to take proactive steps to improve the environment.

Simple ideas such as switching to energy efficient light bulbs, unplugging appliances when not in use, and only running the dishwasher when full are just a few of the many ways to reduce your carbon footprint. They can help save money on electricity bills, too!

SMARTGrowth
Flower Mound has taken a progressive approach to the “green” movement. The Town enacted the SMARTGrowth program in 1999, which seeks to mitigate effects of urbanization, ensure growth does not occur at the expense of environmental quality, and preserve open lands, natural landscapes, and sensitive ecological resources. In addition, the Town offers many eco-friendly events and programs throughout the year such as:

• Environmental fair
• E-waste and household hazardous waste recycling
• Fall and spring trash offs
• Master composter and xeriscaping classes
