Trash / Recycling
Waste Management
Waste Management of Texas began providing trash collection and recycling services to Flower Mound residents and businesses on October 1, 2011. The town's five-year contract with Waste Management provides increased environmental and recycling benefits, reduced rates, and added convenience. The service includes:
  • Landfill access at a reduced rate
  • At-Your-Door household hazardous and electronic waste collection
  • Weekly semi-automated waste collection
  • Weekly single-stream, semi-automated recycling collection utilizing 95-gallon polycarts
  • Weekly bulk/brush pickup

The Collection Process

Semi-automated service ensures a collection specialist will follow each truck on foot to assist the automated service, minimizing spillage and missed trash.  Here are some tips to ensure a smooth collection process:
  • All trash items must be inside the cart and weigh no more than 175 lbs to ensure collection.
  • Contents should be bagged and lids closed to avoid littering.
  • Have your trash and recycling carts curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection day, and, according to Town Ordinance, no earlier than 8 a.m. the day before and no later than 8 a.m. on the day after your collection day.
  • Proper placement of your cart is within two feet of the edge of the street and handles should face your house, where the lid opens to the street
  • The Postmaster requires carts to be placed far enough away from the mailbox so the carrier can access the mailbox without interference.

If your trash or recycling cart is in need of repair or replacement, please contact the Town of Flower Mound Customer Relations Division at 972.539.7378 or complete the online request form. Please view the trash and recycling map to determine your designated collection day.

Holidays and Collection
If a holiday recognized by the Town of Flower Mound occurs during the work week, trash, recycling, and bulk collection schedules will be delayed one day, with collections being completed on Saturday (with the exception of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday and Good Friday). For more information regarding holiday closures, please contact our office or visit our holiday closings  page.
