This Hangout On Air will highlight the toxic pollution and gross over-use of water associated with the rapidly expanding tar sands industry and how it is impacting Indigenous communities. We'll discuss how some companies, as part of their sustainability and risk avoidance efforts, are reducing their reliance on tar sands fuel in their vehicle fleet and shipping operations. We'll also mention what volunteers can do to get involved in the campaign. Speakers will include: Gina Coplon-Newfield, Sierra Club USA’s Director of Future Fleet & Electric Vehicles Initiative, who will discuss a new report on this topic being released this week; Hannah McKinnon, Environmental Defence Canada’s Program Manager who is an expert on this issue; and Crystal Lameman of the Beaver Lake Cree Nation and Sierra Club Canada’s Prairie Chapter Climate & Energy Campaigner.
