"He had what you might call the perfect combination," says Rod Steiger, who costarred with Brando in 1954's On the Waterfront (for which Brando won his first Oscar). "He had this wonderful talent, he had sexual appeal and he refused to compromise. He became the leader of a kind of truth and realism in acting that would never have happened without him."
