Katella High Student Takes Selfie, Posts on Instagram as Anaheim PD Harasses Him and His Friends!

You gotta love this new generation of high school students borne on the teats of Instagram and eternal skepticism toward the police state. Want proof? Check out what happened last month at Katella High School in Anaheim.

Sources tell the Weekly that two students were waiting to get picked up after school when an Anaheim Police Department officer rolled up on them and asked why they were "loitering." Their answer--waiting for a ride home--didn't please the cop, so he started messing with them more. That's when one of the youngsters took the above selfie and posted it on Instagram--and that's when the fun started.

After this point, the teens attempted to leave when the officer placed his hands on one of them, telling him he wasn't allowed to leave. When that didn't work, the students claim, the officer threw one of them against the fence. That's when one of the young Knights finally called an adult, who rushed to the scene and raised holy hell.

"They would not allow me to listen to the recording [at the scene] from the officer," says the adult, who requested anonymity. "They say its internal use only. All I wanted was clarification that the cop did not handle situation correctly. I asked [a lieutenant] when is it procedure for a cop to put their hands on someone; he said only when cop feels threaten. The kids were no threat."

The teens were ultimately charged with nothing, but might issue a complaint with Anaheim PD. To those teens, we say: kudos to standing up to harassment--and for taking what's OC's best selfie of the year so far!

Check out the selfie on the next page!

Trust me. I work with those kids. They have no business in doing things like that. They did that so much with teachers that they don't say anything about it anymore. It gotten so bad that students became bold and reckless in holding camera against your face and NOT get in trouble for it. I'm glad officers took them down for that. I wish teachers and principal are more proactive about this.

Forget a selfie, these kids should have been recording a video! Then maybe they would have really caught something good.

Umm....hello...when a cop tells you to do something, you are supposed to do it. Kids today have ZERO and I mean ZERO respect for authority. Who knows the whole story...maybe these kids had been in trouble before and the officer remembered them. Yeah...I'm sure these kids are upstanding, outstanding honor roll students and leaders of the school...he..he...

Yes Kudos to the kids though I hope they are not so brazen in their adult years. We all know that bored cops can gey away with doing anything to pass time. What those kids did could easily land an adult in the hospital or worse...because as history has shown- cops are apparently in a constant state of " feeling threatened" .

Amazing coincidence how a Latino man gets executed by Mickey Mouse's Anaheim police department the day after this article is posted.

Good cops want bad cops off the force

the officer is not bad b/c he wants to know why people are loitering

if he acted out of line

then pursue the truth

respect works both ways

if we want bad cops off the streets AND we expect the good officers to get them off the streets

THEN WE MUST HAVE GOOD PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TAKE CARE TO MAKE

SURE THE BAD IN THE COMMUNITY ARE CALLED OUT

RESPECT WORKS BOTH WAYS

Good job APD. These kids are out of control and need Officers to keep them in check. Parents no longer do.

The last thing the Anaheim police department wants you to see is this video.

Here is how unwarranted - no reasonable suspicion - nonconsensual encounters can end. The disgrace here is that this NYC kid was the son of an NYPD traffic cop. He joined the Explorer's program because he wanted to be a cop like his dad. And NO. It ain't just a "few bad apples". The apple cart overfloweth.

Those that complain about too many cops in Anaheim should just move out of the city to cities that there would be no cop presence- like compton, detroit. Those types that complain about too many cops, if they were all to move out- the city would be better off.

Rich Hall- Those are not sergeant stripes. A sergeant patch has THREE chevrons, this senior officer has two.

With a little luck hopefully some of these pigs will get a freeway underpass named in their honor.

what's more disturbing is the sergeant stripes on the cops sleeve..means whoever's promoting him is just as corrupt.

Pigs these days are drunk on power. It's sad because they are suppose to serve and protect, not oppress and harass.

Some people have no business in the police department. This cop for sure! Thanks to this digital age an instant photo can be made for all to see his aggressive behavior!

@ Michael Black, assuming you're who you say, and the cop used poor judgment, you just walked away when your ride pulled up? That's where it looks like the trouble started. You can't just walk away when you're being questioned, fair or unfair you made it much worse than it should've been

MaiHanh Tran

When you look like "trouble" you're gonna get harassed by cops. I'm sure good kids wouldn't have taken a picture of a policeman who questioned them. He was just doing his job, which most of the haters probably know nothing about.

@Ijustwokeup - Wow. No gag reflex *and* you swallow. Did they give you kneepads with the dept. logo? LoL

@Ijustwokeup  No, unless the cop tells them they are under arrest there is no reason for detaining them.  If he is placing them under arrest, which he did not, there has to be a reason for the arrest.  You are right in what you state "who knows the whole story..."  but I for one will not give up my rights (that i acquired via naturalization) to question authority, nor should these kids.  If the officer has a reason to arrest them then read them their Miranda and explain why they are in trouble.

Anaheim PD doesn't want white people in Anaheim Hills to see this video. If they do it will end the perpetual fraud commited in OC courts every day.

I agree. No need to slander this officer for doing his job. We dont just pay them to enforce the law but to prevent crime as well. Its a shame that OC has so many immoral people in uniform that one would have to be foolish (or young) to not be weary of every officers intentions. Cops and Mexicans in OC have one major thing in common- vast majorities expect the lot to be as shitty as the worst.

The Anaheim officer should have observed the children period before ever approaching. He should not have gone up to them and proceed to harass them after they stated they were waiting for their rides. Reason and common sense have gone out the proverbial window. My child and any student waiting to be picked up after school should be able to wait in front of her/his school without thinking about cops driving up and harassing them about being there. By all means police should cruise by and show a presence in the community. A lot of crime is deterred from just police having a presence in the communities they serve. Dare I say this is a race thing or discrimination by appearance. goodness I hope not. For the sake of students waiting for their families to pick them up after sports or after school clubs, etc...Anaheim PD Please use common sense!

What's was the reasonable suspicion? Was it a legal detainment? Don't need to answer ANYBODY'S QUESTIONS at any time unless being detained with reasonable suspicion/Probable cause.

Youre sure? Because you know the kids right?? His job is to protect and serve, not harrass and put his hands on teenagers. What if theteen would have touched him? He would end up like Kelly Thomas. Have some common sense...

@megandanielle  It is a cops job to investigate all suspicious activity. You dont know the whole story here. There are areas in anaheim that kids go to in order to sell drugs, weed, smoke- etc. Perhaps they were just in the wrong place in the wrong time.

Ultimately, the kids were let go- only their time was wasted. No harm done-

bellaB

@18usc241  it probably wont happen to his kid. Do you see Allens icon picture- he looks like an outstanding citizen. You think he is going to let his kid dress like that kid in that youtube video???

@bellaB  Yes. It would be of better understanding if someone like the officer or the department would comment. Then I would be able to understand what constituted suspicious behavior enough to approach these minors.

I am not naive to think that teenagers don't make poor decisions. I was a teenager I remember. I am a parent I immensely understand.

@18usc241  The founding fathers also didn't dress like cholos you fucking asshole. They also had pride and respect for the law and country they founded.

I get that you have an agenda, but wouldn't you be better served educating your flock to

not commit a disproportionate amount of crime compared against the white people in Anaheim?

18usc241
18usc241

You speak of the manner in which someone dresses in the United States as grounds for probable cause? The founding fathers would have vomited on you. You also completely ignored the exposure of police corruption section of the video.

You are the sort of genius that could be convinced to shove live people into gas chambers.
