Democrat and Republican members of the House Select Committee on Fiscal Impact of Texas Border Operations — led by Rep. Donna Howard, D-Austin — questioned Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw about whether an increase in apprehensions since last year was an indicator that the operation was working as intended.
