Two contenders jump into Texas house race

Two Democrats announced this weekend that they’re running for Texas House District 123, the San Antonio seat that state Rep. Mike Villarreal is leaving to run for San Antonio mayor.

The four highest honors for the Air Force are: The Medal of Honor (from left), The Air Force Cross, The Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross are seen in the "medals room" at the Air Force Personnel Center. The center oversees the congressional program to help veterans and their families receive and replace medals and decorations that were earned during their service in the Air Force and Army Air Corps. The center handles 45,000 requests per year for decorations ranging from the Basic Military Training Ribbon to the highest recognition of military service, the Medal of Honor. "Our mission is extremely important to those who've served before us - the veterans - those are the ones who made everything we have today possible," said Will Brown, chief of the Recognition and Evaluation Programs branch of the Air Force Personnel Center. The office has been in existence for the Air Force since the 1960s.

The purpose of the program is to prevent child abuse according to Alvarado who works with teen moms in San Antonio. Alvarado was recently with Trejo and her seven-month old son, Aaron Medina, Jr. and Trejo's friend, Amanda Apolinar, who is also a teen mother with an eight-month-old girl, Gabrielle.
