Supreme Court Vacates Fifth Circuit Stay
The U.S. Supreme Court vacated the Fifth Circuit's stay on the House Bill 2 (HB2) ambulatory surgical center and hospital admitting privileges requirements, effective October 15th, 2014. This ruling, which came out on the evening of October 14th, has allowed the abortion clinics in Texas closed by the Fifth Circuit ruling to reopen. Tweets Supporting Abortion Rights Came From All Over Texas
A new publication from Amanda Jean Stevenson of the Texas Policy Evaluation Project shows that during the Wendy Davis filibuster of the bill HB2, tweets came from all over Texas, not just major urban centers, and around 97% of tweets on the topic supported reproductive rights.

Texas State Abortion Rate Decreases 13% Since Implementation of Restrictive Law
A new TxPEP paper shows a 13% decline in the abortion rate in Texas and a sharp reduction in medical abortion since House Bill 2 (HB2) went into effect in November 2013. The law includes provisions restricting medical abortion, banning most procedures after 20 weeks post-fertilization and requiring physicians to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
