"We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us be much more than what we are." -Adelle Davis Today, 4 years ago, we opened our doors in #BoyleHeights on the corner of St. Louis and Cesar Chavez. We took pride in offering ’something different’ to the area. To be honest, we really weren’t. We were just doing what our parents taught us. To do something you believe in, to take pride in what you practice, and make delicious food along the way. It was a simple menu; Homestyle braises on handmade tortillas. Nothing fancy, nothing traditionally unheard of; they were recipes, from mom, grandma, tio, and all of the above. They were simply the flavors and preparations we were raised with. The idea worked, but 20 seats weren’t enough. #EchoPark was the next venture, a perfect opportunity to make more tacos, paint a mural, have a parking lot (!) and serve Dodgerata before the game. In August of this year we proudly opened our third in #DTLA, a big step, but a small acheivement. Every day that passes it feels like this is the right place for us, and this is who we were meant to become.
