PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A Parker County resident has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after shooting a utility worker on his property.

According to Sheriff Larry Fowler, the incident occurred in the 100 block of Links Lane, in southern Parker County around 7 a.m. on Friday.

The victim has been identified as a worker subcontracted by a utility company to install copper cable on the suspect’s property this week.

The suspect — identified as Mark Ryan Wright, 42, of Aledo — told deputies that he did not want the victim on his property and repeatedly asked him to leave. The victim was reportedly shot in the foot.

He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and is in serious but non-life threatening condition.

Deputies seized a .20 gauge shotgun at the scene, which the suspect is believed to have used in the commission of the offense.

Wright was taken into custody and charged.
