AUSTIN — Greg Abbott used a disciplined campaign, a giant war chest, an efficient Republican machine and a powerful personal story to soundly defeat Wendy Davis in the race for governor.

The four highest honors for the Air Force are: The Medal of Honor (from left), The Air Force Cross, The Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross are seen in the "medals room" at the Air Force Personnel Center. The center handles 45,000 requests per year for decorations ranging from the Basic Military Training Ribbon to the highest recognition of military service, the Medal of Honor. "Our mission is extremely important to those who've served before us - the veterans - those are the ones who made everything we have today possible," said Will Brown, chief of the Recognition and Evaluation Programs branch of the Air Force Personnel Center. The office has been in existence for the Air Force since the 1960s.
