Check out These Winter Visitors in Texas State Parks
Like Winter Texans, many species of birds head south in search of a warmer climate. Winter is a great time to grab your binoculars and go birding in a state park. One must-see Winter Texan is the endangered whooping crane (pictured). These large, dramatic birds live along the Texas coast, near Goose Island State Park. Many other bird species spend winter in Texas, including green-winged teals, yellow-bellied sapsuckers, American white pelicans and snow geese.

Park Pick: Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Beyond the Dome
"OK, I admit it. The only thing I did on my first trip to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area was hike to the top of the majestic pink granite dome for which the site is named.
After all, its massive size and spectacular beauty beckoned me to the summit for the awe-inspiring views.
However, there's much more to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area than 'just' the rock."
