We knew that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo — the epitome of the tough guy — has been playing with small fractures in his back.

After Thursday night's 41-28 win over the Chicago Bears, Romo told reporters that he's also been playing with a broken rib for roughly two months, according to media reports.

Romo said he either suffered the injury against the St. Louis Rams in week three of the season or the following week against the New Orleans Saints.

This isn't the first time Romo has played with a broken rib. He broke a rib and punctured a lung in 2011, but continued to play despite the pain.

Romo had back surgery this off season for a separate back injury.

USA Today reported that the National Football League is investigating whether the Cowboys improperly left Romo's rib injury off the required weekly injury report. His back injury has been listed.
