Colorado woman gives birth to nearly 14-pound baby 

Mia Yasmin Hernandez tips the scales at 13 pounds, 13 ounces. The giant baby stuns parents and hospital staff.

Alisha Hernandez thought she was going to deliver a 7-pound baby. Instead, her newborn weighed nearly twice that amount.

Delivered by c-section, Yia Yasmin Hernandez weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds, 13 ounces and sporting a mass of black hair.

Dad Francisco Garcia said he and his wife were not the only surprised people in the Colorado delivery room.

The medical staff also seem shocked, he told KUSA-TV.

“They’re all shocked that they’re seeing a baby like that,” the proud poppa said. “They were like, ‘Whoa!’’’

A nurse yelled at him “Come here! Come here!” he recounted. Then she told him to look at the scale.

The baby was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Aurora earlier this week because of a respiratory problem and low glucose levels.

She is doing well, her dad said.

Her mom has four other daughters at home. The couple had been trying for a boy.

“I’m done!” she said.
