What's in all those containers on the docks? Here are Washington state’s top 25 exports

Northwest Cherry Growers

No. 25, Fresh cherries. Washington is the largest producer of sweet cherries in the United States, according to WorkSource. In 2013, the state banked $221 million in cherry exports, they made up 0.3 percent of the market share of exports in the state.

As the ports of Seattle and Tacoma slow down because of labor negotiation hurdles between the International Longshoreman and Warehouse Union and its managing authority, the Pacific Maritime Association, exports and imports are sitting at docks all along the West Coast.

That means some of the region's exports, like Christmas Trees and apples, aren't leaving the ports as quickly and may not make it to their destinations while they're still fresh.

Some shippers are saying the damage has already been done, and that the slowdown will impact their businesses for years to come.

That led us to ask: What's in those containers sitting at the docks?
