Neighborhood Allies awards $478,000 in grants

Neighborhood Allies, the local neighborhood support nonprofit, announced $478,000 in new community investments.

They are:

  • $65,000 to Community WorkZ, Inc., a community organization working in Beltzhoover, Allentown and Knoxville.
  • $60,000 to CARE Ownership, a program to build wealth and revitalize property in Larimer.
  • $600,000 to Center that CARES, to invest in technology education at the Jeron X. Grayson Community Center.
  • $75,000 for Farm Truck Foods, a pilot to launch a mobile market program to bring nutritious foods to residents who live in neighborhoods without accessible grocery stores.
  • $80,000 to the Larmier Consensus Group, to hire the first staff person at what has been a volunteer community group to work on revitalizing the neighborhood.
  • $75,000 to the Millvale Community Library, to hire staff and help to support its future development.
  • $75,000 for the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh, to expand its facility and its work to address chronic unemployment in Wilkinsburg and Homewood.
