FEBRUARY PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,682 original drilling permits in February 2014 compared to 1,744 in February 2013. The February total included 1,547 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 32 to re-enter existing well bores, and 103 for re-completions. Permits issued in February 2014 included 472 oil, 72 gas, 1,067 oil and gas, 50 injection, two service and 19 other permits.
JANUARY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary January 2014 crude oil production averaged 1,927,976 barrels daily, up from the 1,427,036 barrels daily average of January 2013.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for January 2014 is 59,767,243 barrels, up from 44,238,129 barrels reported during January 2013.
FEBRUARY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In February 2014, operators reported 2,768 oil, 232 gas, 131 injection and 11 other completions compared to 1,006 oil, 351 gas, 47 injection and one other completion in February 2013.
Total well completions for 2014 year to date are 6,749 up from 2,925 recorded during the same period in 2013.
Operators reported 802 holes plugged and zero dry holes in February 2014 compared to 45 holes plugged and zero dry holes in February 2013.
JANUARY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 589,738,490 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for January 2014 up from the January 2013 preliminary gas production total of 532,730,191 Mcf. Texas preliminary January total gas production averaged 19,023,822 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in January 2014 came from 161,533 oil wells and 92,269 gas wells.
