Can't access the Paper
Like the other reviews have said, this app fails to download either the most recent issue (so you're stuck on the last one) or doesn't access the servers at all and doesn't get past the loading screen, rendering the app useless. It also forces you to sign in repeatedly at odd times. It's Monday morning, and the app is stuck on Saturday's paper.
I've been an ePaper subscriber for many years now and the app has never been good. When it works it's fine, but when it doesn't you can't access the newspaper. The bad thing is, DMN's newsstand app is incomplete, containing only some of the day's newspaper content and repeating articles from previous days for up to a week, with no way to get rid of them. Overall I give Dallas Morning News an F for technology. I'm going to all DMN and ask for a refund for the days I've been unable to access my subscription.
Better than many
I've tried several newspaper readers and find the DMN reader by Olive to be the best of the lot.
The only problem I have with it is any touch of the screen and you loose your place. This is especially true when reading in the document format ( a great feature which allows you to read a story as a document rather than in the printed paper format) . I wish they would remove the side swipe feature from the document format so a mistouch of the screen does not move you to another story.
Crashable, incompatible with iPad OS 8.1
Several of fixes to get the value of a subscription that includes the E Paper edition failed, again and again. Seems to work for a while then decides it does not know you and you do not exist. In addition to refusing to be corrected customer service fixes never consummated a working fix.
I tried their temporary passwords, Nope don't know me. A catch 22 sign in appears every time sign in or login is attempted. Redundant disrepair. So goodbye subscriptions, you are too frustrating and financially not worth it.
