Nueterra purchases Missouri hospital

Leawood-based global health care management company Nueterra has partnered with University of Missouri Health Care to buy Callaway Community Hospital in Fulton, Mo.
Callaway Community Hospital is owned by HealthMont of Missouri LLC, a subsidiary of SunLink Health Systems Inc. It is an acute-care hospital with 37 beds.
The hospital sold for $6 million, and SunLink said it will see a loss of about $300,000. Nueterra will be the majority owner.
The two new owners said they have plans to renovate the interior and exterior and provide additional technology during the next several months.
"Nueterra has a strong record of improving access, affordability and quality of care in communities similar to Fulton," Nueterra Chairman Dan Tasset said in a statement. "Through this partnership with MU Health Care, we are committed to being a part of this community and empowering physicians and health care providers to offer the highest quality of care possible."
The deal is scheduled to close Dec. 31.
