Kubota Tractor Corp., the U.S. marketer and distributor of Kubota-engineered and manufactured machinery and equipment, will open a nearly 450,000-square-foot parts distribution center at the 1,500-acre Logistics Park Kansas City in Edgerton.

"As Kubota's business continues to grow and we enter new markets, we are committed to being equipped to meet our dealers' and customers' needs," Kubota Tractor CEO Masato Yoshikawa said in a release. "This new parts distribution center is going to further streamline our operations and improve our parts delivery support, making sure that our dealers and customers have the support they need when they need it."

Kubota plans to have the facility operational during the third quarter of 2015. When initial operations begin, the new parts distribution center will primarily service the Midwest. It will employ approximately 75 by the end of its first 12 months.

"This new distribution center will enable us to manage our stream of parts more effectively and improve parts delivery time, including an expanded geographical area to which we can deliver parts within 24 hours," Earl Johnson, Kubota's parts director, said in the release.

Bob Marcusse, CEO of the Kansas City Area Development Council, said the agency was thrilled to add Kubota to the list of new and expanding firms that have made this the best job-recruitment year ever for the organization.

To attract Kubota, the KCADC partnered with a number of entities, including the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Corp., KC SmartPort, the city of Edgerton, the Kansas City Power & Light Co., CBRE Group Inc.; and NorthPoint Development, the master developer for Logistics Park Kansas City.
