United Airlines will launch its new daily flights between Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Santiago, Chile, on Dec. 7.

It will be the only nonstop service between Houston and Chile's capital city, according to Chicago-based United Continental Holdings Inc. (NYSE: UAL).

Flight 847 will depart IAH at 9:35 p.m. and arrive at Santiago's Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport at 10:10 a.m. the following day. Flight 846 will depart Santiago at 11 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 5:55 a.m. the next day.

United will also add its new weekly Saturday service from Houston to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Dec. 20. That flight will operate year-round and increase to daily service from June 4 to Aug. 17, 2015.

Earlier this week, United ended service from Houston and Chicago to Atlantic City, but the airline and several others have added international flights from the Bayou City over the past few years.

For instance, United added a second daily flight from Houston to Tokyo earlier this year.
