Operations of the Davie County Workforce Center at 375 Hospital St. in Mocksville will transfer to the Davie County Library early next year.
It's part of a move to provide better service, increase hours and use money previously spent on rent and other expenses on resources to help job seekers, said Althea Hairston, director of the Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development Board.
Hairston said the two staff members who currently work at the center will transition from the leased Hospital Street location to the Davie County Library at 371 N. Main St. Operations at the Hospital Street location will cease on Dec. 18. Job search services will begin at the library on Jan. 5.
Hairston said the current center in Mocksville is operating three days a week. Under the new arrangement, job seekers will be able seek services outside of regular business hours, including on weekends.
"When work force development staff are not there, the library staff has agreed to assist job seekers," she said.
In a similar move, the Yadkin County Workforce Center located at 236 North Lee Ave. will cease operations at that location on Jan. 31. Operations for job search access will begin Jan. 5 at the Yadkin County Library located at 233 East Main St. in Yadkinville.
