Like the stock-car racing legends that fill the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, those recognized at the Fast 50 event held at the uptown museum Thursday evening have a need for speed — when it comes to growing their companies, that is.

The Charlotte Business Journa l's annual awards program highlights the area's fastest-growing companies, based on submitted information about their financial performance over a three-year period. The 2014 honorees, previously notified only of their inclusion on the list, celebrated the big reveal of this year's rankings at the event.
