MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON #GIVINGTUESDAY

#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. Every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people and charities around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

Here are three great reasons you should donate to Catskill Mountainkeeper today:

1) The Catskills are making a comeback

We're working hard to promote sustainable agriculture and tourism in the Catskills, and we're seeing results. Over 5,000 people turned out to celebrate the regional bounty at this year's Taste of the Catskills Festival, and our new film, Catskill Park, premiered to a sold-out theater at the Woodstock Film Festival. Our work to establish the Catskills as a food shed for the New York Metro region is in full swing -- the Capital Access Agricultural Loan Program is currently accepting applications for farms and farm-based businesses that want to expand production and reach new markets.

2) We're investing where it counts

Childhood obesity rates are on the rise due to lack of outdoor activity and poor eating habits. Three of our programs aim to reverse CEGP-_Cooke_School.jpgthis trend. The Catskill Edible Garden Project teaches students about the importance of local food systems and eating fresh, nutritious fruits and vegetables. Trailkeeper Network® organizes activities that inspire families to explore our amazing backyard; and Eat Healthy Farmers Markets are designed to accept FMNP vouchers (available to low-income single mothers and seniors) in exchange for locally produced, fresh vegetables.
