June 21st Day of Action

On June 21st, our community held the first United Way of Denton County Day of Action sponsored by the Denton Record Chronicle. This was an incredible opportunity for citizens to volunteer to serve our community through service projects and product drives. Here's a small taste of the great work done by volunteers:

Various product drives hosted by businesses throughout the county benefitted The Arc of Denton County; Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star; CASA of Denton County; Denton County Friends of the Family and Giving HOPE, Inc., supplying them with backpacks, school supplies, feminine hygiene products, travel sized toiletries, non-perishable food and paper products (paper plates, plastic utensils, etc.)

Community Service projects from 7:00 a.m. to noon benefitted multiple organizations including Carter Blood Care, CASA of Denton County, Denton Christian Preschool, Evers Park Elementary (Denton ISD), Ryan Elementary (Denton ISD), Salvation Army, United Way of Denton County and more.

The week’s activities wrapped up on Saturday, June 21st with a volunteer rally at noon at United Way of Denton County’s office (1314 Teasley Lane, Denton, TX 76205). The parking lot was filled with fun children’s activities, live music, and opportunities for community members to learn more about how they can continue to volunteer with local organizations and be an integral part of our community.
