a sub watershed of Shamokin Creek.
Originating in Northumberland County to
include 4 municipalities (Rockefeller,
Shamokin, Upper & Lower Augusta
townships). Little Shamokin Creek is
designated for protection of Cold Water
Fishes (CWF). The Little Shamokin Creek
watershed is largely forested, 65%, with
tree farms and deciduous stands.
Agricultural areas of mostly pastures
and croplands make up an additional 30%
of the watershed & urban/developed
lands, 2%.

| THE LONG CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AND EDUCATION On April 19, 2014 a youth trout derby was held at the Long Center. 250 youth from the area participated. Each youth was given a fishing related gift, a commemorative lapel pin, food and beverage. There was no fee for the youth. The Sunbury Eagles #503 sponsored an Earth Day event at the Long Center on April 26, 2014. At this event 2 more restoration 1.0 and 6 Chinkapin/American cross chestnut seeds were planted and mulched. In addition, our 16 other American chestnut trees were mulched. 4 apple tree seedlings were also planted. We have entered into a contract for a 24' x 60' picnic pavilion. Construction is scheduled to start the week of April 28, 2014.
