OCTOBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,771 original drilling permits in October 2011 compared to 1,515 in October 2010. The October total included 1,567 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 57 to re-enter existing well bores, and 147 for re-completions. Permits issued in October 2011 included 481 oil, 179 gas, 1,025 oil and gas, 74 injection, one service and 11 other permits.
SEPTEMBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary September 2011 crude oil production averaged 1,011,001 barrels daily, up from the 938,457 barrels daily average of September 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for September 2011 is 30,330,018 barrels, up from 28,153,714 barrels reported during September 2010.OCTOBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In October 2011, operators reported 704 oil, 229 gas, 22 injection and one other completion compared to 451 oil, 259 gas, 38 injection and one other completion October 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 6,900 down from 8,723 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 863 holes plugged and zero dry holes in October 2011 compared to 740 holes plugged and one dry hole in October 2010.SEPTEMBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 527,116,072 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for September 2011 down from the September 2010 preliminary gas production total of 553,183,240 Mcf.
Texas production in September 2011 came from 142,603 oil wells and 90,804 gas wells.
