SEPTEMBER PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,531 original drilling permits in September 2013 compared to 1,640 in September 2012. The September total included 1,383 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 17 to re-enter existing well bores, and 131 for re-completions. Permits issued in September 2013 included 517 oil, 91 gas, 836 oil and gas, 55 injection, two service and 30 other permits.
AUGUST CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary August 2013 crude oil production averaged 1,796,244 barrels daily, up from the 1,342,076 barrels daily average of August 2012.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for August 2013 is 55,683,549 barrels, up from 41,604,353 barrels reported during August 2012.
SEPTEMBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In September 2013, operators reported 1,456 oil, 424 gas, 10 injection and three other completions compared to 657 oil, 178 gas, 34 injection and two other completions in September 2012.
Total well completions for 2013 year to date are 19,114 up from 10,836 recorded during the same period in 2012.
Operators reported 267 holes plugged and zero dry holes in September 2013 compared to 687 holes plugged and zero dry holes in September 2012.
AUGUST NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 610,322,346 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for August 2013 up from the August 2012 preliminary gas production total of 549,882,336 Mcf. Texas preliminary August total gas production averaged 19,687,818 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in August 2013 came from 161,709 oil wells and 94,171 gas wells.
