JULY PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,722 original drilling permits in July 2011 compared to 1,477 in July 2010. The July total included 1,556 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 32 to re-enter existing well bores, and 134 for re-completions. Permits issued in July 2011 included 481 oil, 190 gas, 961 oil and gas, 54 injection, six service and 30 other permits.
JUNE CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary June 2011 crude oil production averaged 968,328 barrels daily, up from the 913,591 barrels daily average of June 2010.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for June 2011 is 29,049,829 barrels, up from 27,407,738 barrels reported during June 2010.
JULY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In July 2011, operators reported 243 oil, 271 gas, 13 injection and zero other completions compared to 591 oil, 329 gas, 60 injection and one other completion during July 2010.
Total well completions for 2011 year to date are 4,690 down from 6,292 recorded during the same period in 2010.
Operators reported 148 holes plugged and zero dry holes in July 2011 compared to 631 holes plugged and two dry holes in July 2010.
JUNE NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 526,588,019 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for June 2011 down from the June 2010 preliminary gas production total of 560,499,162 Mcf.
Texas production in June 2011 came from 145,728 oil wells and 92,285 gas wells.
